DANGER: The Ex rating applies only to the pump unit supplied by Flojet. The party
responsible for installing the pump shall choose any additional equipment with the
appropriate CE Certificate/Declaration of Conformity that is deemed suitable for the
area where it is installed. Failure to follow these instructions could result in explosion,
property damage, severe personal injury and/or death.
3.4 MARKING
In compliance with the 94/9/EC standards the pumps carry the following identification marks:
II:
Equipment Group: non-mining.
2:
Equipment Category: Zone 1 (Category 2) inside and outside.
Areas where an Explosive atmosphere is likely to occur in normal operation.
G:
Gases, vapors, mists.
c:
Protection by constructional safety (EN13463-5).
IIB:
Gases, vapors mists of explosion group IIA (Propane) and IIB (Ethylene).
TX:
Maximal occurring equipment temperature depends on the temperature of
the conveyed liquid.
3.5 EXCESSIVE TEMPERATURE
The temperature class of the pump is indicated in the ATEX Ex rating on the nameplate. The
"TX" temperature specification indicates that the Flojet pneumatic pump does not generate
any significant temperature increase on its own. However, the surface temperature of the
pump can be influenced by the temperature of the process fluid. The user must ensure that
the process fluid temperature does not exceed 49C (120F) which is the maximum tempera-
ture allowed in the Flojet pump for proper operation. Installing a temperature sensor protec-
tion device is recommended to maintain process liquid temperature at a safe level.
Always ensure the equipment temperature class is suitable for the equipment
category hazard zone. Refer to the ATEX Temperature Class Table for the maxi-
mum flammable fluid temperature limits and ATEX Equipment Category Desig-
nation Table for list of Explosion group IIA and IIB chemicals.
DANGER: The responsibility for compliance with the specified maximum liquid
temperature is with the user. The maximum process liquid temperature in the Flojet
pump cannot exceed 49C (120F). Failure to follow these instructions could result in
explosion, property damage, severe personal injury and/or death.

3.6 PREVENTING THE BUILD-UP OF EXPLOSIVE MIXTURES
To prevent an explosive atmosphere, ensure that the pump and the suction/discharge pipe-
line system are totally filled with fluid during the pumping operation. The surrounding area
must be well ventilated to avoid potential hazards from released combustible vapor or gas
to atmosphere.
Ensure the pump is properly filled with fluid whenever possible and does not
run dry for extended periods to avoid build-up of explosive mixtures.
DANGER: Failure to follow these instructions could result in explosion, property
damage, severe personal injury and/or death.
3.7 GROUNDING
Mechanical operation and flowing fluids can generate
static electricity. To avoid the risk of static sparking, ground
the pump and all other equipment used in the hazard zone.
Check your local electrical code for detailed grounding
instructions for your area and type of equipment. The
Flojet pump is equipped with a ground wire cable.
The pump must be connected to earth ground before operation to minimize
the risk of static spark. Periodic inspection of the ground connection should
be performed to ensure the equipment is properly grounded per local codes.
Failure to follow these instructions could result in explosion, property damage,
severe personal injury and/or death.

3.8 PREVENTING LEAKS
It is critical that chemical compatibility between the pump and the liquid media
be verified by the user before installation and use in the equipment. Chemical
incompatibility may cause premature failure and may result in leakage. Always
read the manufacturers literature before you use fluid or solvent in the pump.
The pump must be mounted with protection against accidental impact with
blunt moving objects that may cause damage.
If a leak of fluid to atmosphere can result in a hazard, then use of a liquid detec-
tion device is recommended. Protect the site and personnel from accidental
failures by installing a protection guard to hold and collect any product leak-
age.
The pump is equipped with dual diaphragms for increased life. In the event of a
ruptured diaphragm, fluid may enter the air circuit and be discharged through
the exhaust port. It is therefore recommended that the air exhaust be conveyed
by tubing to a safe area.
DANGER: Failure to follow these instructions could result in explosion, property
damage, severe personal injury and/or death.
3.9 PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
It is recommended that a maintenance plan and schedule be implemented that is in-line with
the user equipment instructions and should include the following:
Any supplementary systems installed in the equipment must be monitored to ensure
safety and proper function.
Check that the duty conditions are within the pumps operating range. See pump per-
formance specifications.
Check equipment regularly and repair or replace parts that are worn or damaged.
The pump and ancillary equipment should be serviced in a safe area away from the
hazard zone. Ensure that all fluids are drained and the pump is not pressurized when
removing the pump for service.
When installing a pump for the first time or from service, ensure that it is properly
grounded.
When installing a pump for the first time or from service ensure that all pump connec-
tions and seals are properly fitted to avoid leaks. Use only Flojet original parts as shown
on the parts list.
Do not rely on counter or timer device to determine service interval. This is not a pro-
cess control for the pumps safety performance. Always check the pump and additional
equipment for leaks and proper function.
Do not exceed maximum air pressure of 100 PSI on the pump.
Flush the pump to prevent the fluid from drying or freezing in the pump and damaging
it. Always flush the pump and relieve pressure before storing for any length of time.
To reduce the risk of potential explosion hazards during maintenance, do not
use items such as tools or cleaning materials that may generate sparking or
adversely affect the ambient conditions. Where there is a risk from such tools
and materials, then maintenance of the pump must be performed in a safe area.
DANGER: Preventative maintenance is required to avoid potential hazards that may
increase the risk of explosion. It is the responsibility of the plant operator to comply
with recommended maintenance instructions. Failure to follow these instructions
could result in explosion, property damage, severe personal injury and/or death.
