CAUTION!
On many overrun devices, the shock ab-
sorber is hooked to the fastening screw
(rear screw of the coupling head). This
shock absorber extends automatically
when the screw is removed. Therefore
secure the shock absorber in position
using a fixing element!
CAUTION!
Self-locking nuts may only be used once.
Horizontal bolts (M14 / M16)
1. Loosen the self-locking nuts.
2. Drive out the rear screw and fix the shock ab-
sorber in place, if necessary.
3. Pull out the front screw and remove the instal-
led coupling head (23 or 27).
4. Push the AKS and any spacers required onto
the drawbar tube until the fastening holes are
aligned.
5. Insert the hexagonal bolt with washer through
the slot (25).
6. Using the hexagonal bolt, drive the fixing ele-
ment out of the rear hole so that the shock ab-
sorber can be threaded on again (24 or 28).
7. Screw on new self-locking nuts and tighten to
the prescribed torque (28).
CAUTION!
On the AKS 3504, use a washer on both
sides of the slot!
Cross bolts (M14)
1. Repeat steps 1 - 4 of section "Horizontal
bolts".
2. Insert hexagonal bolt from above through the
fastening hole and drive out the fixing element
(24).
3. Push existing profiled washer onto the screw
from below and screw on new self-locking
nuts (24).
4. Insert the hexagonal bolt with washer through
the slot (25).
5. Screw on new self-locking nuts with washers
and tighten to the prescribed torque (25).

Danger of uncoupling while driving. After
each coupling, check the correct enga-

towing vehicle (03)!
The green cylinder of the engagement
indicator must be visible.
The ball head of the towing hitch must be
clean and grease-free.
Never leave your hand on the hitch handle
when opening or closing the stabilisation
handle.
The stabilisation handle must always be com-

Coupling
1. Pull the stabilisation handle up to the stop (08
A).
2. Position the AKS on the towball using the
hitch handle (08 B).
The coupling head engages automatically
as long as there is a sufficient nose load.
If the nose load is not sufficient, press the
AKS onto the towball by hand until it en-
gages.
3. Press down the stabilisation handle up to the
stop (09).
4. After each coupling, check the correct enga-
gement of the AKS on the towball of the to-

The AKS is ready to be used.
ADVICE
Open the stabilisation handle for ea-
