ADJUSTMENTS
Skid Shoes
It is not recommended that you operatethis snowthroweron gravel
as it can easily pick up and throw loosegravel,causingpersonal
injuryor damageto the snowthrowerand surroundingproperty.
The snowthrowerskid shoesare adjustedupwardat thefactory
for shippingpurposes.Adjustthem downwardprior to operatingthe
machine.
Forclose snow removalon a smoothsurface,adjustthe skid shoesso
that the shaveplateon the bottomof the augerhousingis just off the
ground.
Adjustthe skid shoesto a lowerpositionto raisethe shaveplateoff the
groundwhenclearingunevenareas, suchas a ribbontype drivewayor
a graveldriveway
NOTE:If youchooseto operatethe snowthroweron a gravelsurface,
keepthe skid shoesin positionfor maximumclearancebetweenthe
groundand the shaveplate.
To adjust
the skid shoes:
1.
Loosenthesix hexnuts(threeon eachside)andcarriage bolts.Move
skidshoesto desiredposition. S eeFig.12.

Makecertaintheentirebottomsurfaceofskidshoeisagainst t he
ground to avoiduneven wearon theskidshoes.
3.
Retightennuts and boltssecurely.
Operatinga snow throwerequippedwith steel skid shoesmay result
in damageto naturalstone paversurfaces(e.g. sandstone, b lue-
stone,limestone). For information on availablepolymerskid shoes,

AUGER

CABLES
Prior to operatingyour snowthrower,carefullyreadand followall
instructions below. Performall adjustmentsto verifyyour snow
throwerisoperatingsafelyand properly.
Testing
Auger Drive Control
Whenthe augercontrol isreleasedand inthe disengaged"up" posi-
tion, the cableshouldhavevery little slack, butshouldNOT be tight.

Ina well-ventilated area,startthe snowthrowerengineas
instructedin the Operationsection.
2.
Whilestandingin the operator'sposition(behindthe snow
thrower),engagethe augercontroland allowthe augerto remain
engagedfor approximately ten secondsbeforereleasingthe
augercontrol.Repeatthis severaltimes.
NOTE: When engaging
the auger, you may hear a "chirp"
sound. This
is normal,
it is the belt engaging
the pulley. As the belt wears, this
sound will not be heard when engaging
the auger.
3.
With the enginerunningand the augercontrolin the disengaged
"up"position,walkto the front of the machine.Confirmthat the
auger hascompletelystoppedrotatingand showsno signsof
motion.
4.
If the augershowsanysigns of rotating,immediately r eturnto the
operator'spositionand shut off the engine.Waitfor all moving
parts to stop beforereadjusting the augercontrolcable.
