Assembly options
a) Mounted on a pond filter
On the sera Koi Professional 12000 or 24000 Pond Filter (vertically):
Connection of the pond UVC-55X with a mounting bracket (lead-through
connector) (13) on the Koi filter. The system is prepared for this purpose.
The position of the fixing stand (4) is fixed to the holder screws on the main
tube (3) in a way that the appliance can be attached to the screw holes of
the Koi filter by means of the M6 screws (10) included with the Koi filter.
The appliance is now connected to the Koi Professional 12000 or 24000
Pond Filter by means of the mounting bracket (lead-through connector)
(13) according to fig. 4.
b) Individual mounting options
1.
Wall mounting (horizontally): Connector directed upwards as to
ensure permanent water filling: The pond UVC-55X can be attached to
suitable surfaces with screws. Please note that the appliance weighs
6 kg when filled with water, and therefore must be fastened well. It
may be necessary to fasten the intake and outlet hoses in a way that
no load hangs on the hose connectors and the connectors breaking
off is avoided. Use either the straight or the angled connector for
preventing tension.
2.
Outdoor mounting (horizontally): Connector directed upwards as
to ensure permanent water filling. No air can be trapped inside the
appliance due to the U shaped mounting.
3.
Mounting of several appliances as a battery: This kind of mounting is
advisable if a higher performance at larger ponds or quarantine setups
is desired. Horizontal mounting is preferable due to the improved
de-aeration. You can connect several appliances via their outlets
and intakes and direct the water through them in a row. This leads
to an increased irradiation time and, correspondingly, to a capacity
increasing effect.
Fastening the hose: Choose hoses as short as possible and smooth on
the inside, and secure them against slipping of the connectors with hose
clamps. Using hoses with larger diameter is generally advisable, since
friction resistance is lower and more water can be transported.

Assembly instruction

a) Attached to the sera Koi Professional Pond Filter (12000 or 24000
– depending on the pond size)
The pond UVC-55X System is attached to the pre-installed screw nuts
of the sera Koi Professional Pond Filter by means of the four eyes of
the fixing stand (4). The appliance is screwed on vertically with the cable
facing downwards. Water intake takes place at the upper end of the Koi
Professional Pond Filter through the 90° water intake connector (12). The
outlet of the UV-C system is connected to the pond filter by means of
the filter intake connector included with the Koi Professional Pond Filter.

Please proceed in the following order:
1.
Remove the dummy plug from the pond filter.
2.
The filter intake connector is pushed into the pond filter with the screw
thread facing inwards, and the union nut with seal is loosely attached
from the inside, still allowing the connector to be rotated.
3.
Loosely screw the pond UVC-55X System onto the filter.
4.
Connect the filter intake connector to the UV-C system.
5.
Now carefully fasten the 4 fastening screws (10) of the fixing stand
(4) for the UV-C system.
Two sera pond UVC-55X can be connected to the sera Koi Professional
Pond Filter in this manner.
b) Operation with a sera pond pump PP 12000
The pond UVC-55X System should be installed about two meters from
the garden pond. It is advisable to attach the appliance horizontally on a
board with the hose connectors directed upwards. This prevents the system
running empty and overheating in case of pump failure. The system should
not be operated without water flowing through. In case of pump failure the
UV-C system must be disconnected from power supply.
Various hose diameters can be connected to the system and its variable
hose connectors. You should saw off the smaller connectors with an (iron)
saw if a hose fits on one of the larger diameters. Secure the connection
with a hose clamp. You should use connectors with the same diameter
for the intake and the outlet. It is also in this case recommended to install
the pond filter behind the UV-C system if the system is to be used with a
pond filter other than the Koi Professional Pond Filter.
Operation
Make sure that water circulates around the lamp and that the UV-C system
is free from air bubbles before switching on the UV-C lamp. The lamp must
not be operated dry, as to prevent overheating.
When following the instructions, the UV-C system is connected to the pond
filter in a way that water remains inside the unit even in case of pump failure.
In case of operation with a pump without a filter the hoses must be
directed in a way that prevents the UV-C system running dry [see assembly
instructions b)]. The UV-C lamp turns on when the appliance is connected
to the mains supply. A small part of the light passes to the outside through
the viewing window, where users can monitor the function.
Test run
Prior to actually installing your pond UVC-55X, the system must be tested
under normal installation conditions for at least 24 hours WITHOUT
CONNECTION TO THE MAINS SUPPLY, i.e. in simple water passage
operation without switching on the UV-C system. This allows you to detect
leaks in advance.
Carry out the directions of the assembly instruction to do so and connect
the UV-C system to a suitable pump for 24 hours.
The water flow and pressure (pumping height) should match that of normal
operation.
CAUTION: The UV-C system must not be connected to the power/
mains supply, or it must be immediately disconnected, respectively,
if moisture traces are detected in the UV-C lamp or in the quartz
glass tube. Check all parts for possible damage in this case (see sections
"Cleaning" and "Maintenance"). Consult your specialty retailer if you cannot
detect or correct the problem this way.
Testing the UV-C lamp
Attention! Be sure to wear UV protection glasses.
Switch on the UV-C system for checking whether the UV-C lamp is working.
A dim bluish light can be seen through the viewing window in the bottom
cover when the lamp is on. Avoid looking into the UV light for a longer time.
