• For use by trained qualified personnel only.
• Do not use this respirator if it has been left exposed in a contaminated
environment as contaminants could collect on the inside of the helmet and
be inhaled when the gas mask is donned.
• Routinely used respirators must be inspected before and after each use.
• FAILURE TO OBSERVE ALL WARNINGS MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS
PERSONAL INJURY, SERIOUS ILLNESS, OR DEATH.
If you have questions about the specific application, use, or suitability of the
blower filter unit system, please contact the manufacturer customer service.
Warranty & liability
Please see the General Terms of Delivery and Payment of the national
Fronius sales organisation for the warranty provisions. Further information
is available from your authorised specialist dealer. The warranty covers
material defects only. All warranty and liability provisions shall become void
in the event of improper use. Failure to use original spare parts will also
invalidate the warranty and liability. Wearing parts are excluded from the
warranty.
Expected Lifetime
The blower filter unit has no expiration date. The product can be used as long
as no visible or invisible damage or malfunctions occurs.
Field of application
The blower filter unit (PAPR) is an equipment for protection against dust and
particles. This system is TH3P certified according to European Standard
EN 12941:1998 and P3 certified according to Australian Standard AS/NZS
1716:2012. The blower filter unit is used to support the ventilation process.
This reduces the effort of inhaling and thus the fatigue. The electronic flow
control system monitors the blower to ensure a constant air flow of at least
170 L/min.
The effective operating time of the blower filter unit with a fully charged
battery depends on the battery type and filter condition (see table "Technical
data").
Before you carry out the test before commissioning
• Carefully remove the packaging of the various parts.
• Charge battery completely before first usage
Inspection table:
Check whether the unit is complete in accordance with the scope of
delivery and nothing has been damaged. If any damage is found or a part is
missing, contact the sales department immediately. Never use a damaged
or incomplete unit. Please have a specific look at the following components:
COMPONENT
LOOK FOR
1. Connector cracked or broken.
Battery
2. Loose battery case lid or damaged connector.
1. Holes, cuts or abrasions.

2. Damaged spirals.
1. Cuts, nicks, tears or broken stitching.
Belt / Shoulder
2. Damaged buckle.
Harness
3. Loose hardware.
Testing before commissioning (see page IV)
Before each use, make sure that the blower filter unit is in perfect condition
and proceed as follows:
1. Make sure that the main filter and prefilter are correctly installed and that
the release lever firmly fixes the cover (the cover must snap into place
with an audible click when closed) (Fig. 1).
2. Check the air hose and the air connection for damage (holes, cracks,
cuts, etc.). Connect the air hose to the helmet and blower by pressing the
hose on to the mating part until it snaps into place with an audible click
(Fig. 2).
3. Switch on the blower filter unit by pressing the On/Off button for about
0.5 seconds (Fig. 3). During the 3-second start-up phase, all 5 LEDs light
up (3 LEDs for setting the air flow level in green and 2 LEDs in red, one
indicating the battery status and the other the filter status - Fig. 4) and an
audible alarm (3 beeps) is output. The blower filter unit is then ready for
operation.
4. In addition, the blower filter unit performs a self-test during the start-up
phase to ensure that the unit is generating a sufficient air flow of above
170 L/min. If the red filter LED goes out after the 3-second switch-on
phase, an air flow of at least 170 L/min is maintained. Using a built-in flow
meter, the blower filter unit constantly monitors the air flow throughout
operation and maintains it above 170 L/min.
5. As described above, the blower filter unit has a visible and audible alarm
(Fig. 5) for low battery capacity and missing, clogged or incorrectly
inserted filters. In the event of an alarm, leave the danger zone
immediately!
Make sure that the low air flow/filter clogging alarm works by simulating
a low airflow as follows:
While the blower filter unit is switched on, remove the hose from the
helmet and press your hand against the end of the hose. The motor then
accelerates automatically to compensate for the low airflow. Continue to
press your hand firmly against the end of the hose to seal it tightly. The
unit eventually emits an audible alarm and the red filter LED lights up.
6. To stop the alarm, press the On/Off button for about 3 seconds and
connect the hose to the helmet.
7. Make sure the helmet is undamaged, put it on and fasten the PAPR
around your hips.
8. Start the blower and make sure that the air in the helmet is circulating.
In case of damage, the defective parts must be replaced before continuing
to use the PAPR.
Operating mode (see page IV)
Adjusting the belt size: Put on the belt (Fig. 6) and adjust the size so that the
blower unit sits comfortably on your hips.
Removing the air hose: Push in the hose connection on both sides and pull
it off the mating part (Fig. 7).
Inserting the rechargeable battery: The battery must be inserted into the
appropriate guide on the right underside of the blower filter unit. Push the
battery forward until it audibly snaps into place (Fig. 8).
Removing and charging the battery: Pull the battery release lever back and
slide the battery along the guide and completely out of the blower unit (Fig.
9). Then connect the battery to the charger (Fig. 10). The charging process
is indicated by the red LED on the charger. When charging is complete,
the LED shows green and trickle charge mode is activated. Check that the
voltage in the socket matches the voltage indicated on the charger.
WARNING
• The Lithium Ion battery can only be charged with an original charger.
Using other chargers could cause explosions resulting in injury or death.
• The charger is only for indoor use only and must not be exposed to
outdoor elements. Do not charge battery below 0°C or above 45°C. Do
not charge battery near flammable materials such as boxes, paper and
furniture.
• Battery charging must be done in a safe, non-hazardous location. Do
not charge or store the battery in proximity to the welding apparatus.
• Do not expose the lithium ion cells to water or allow them to get wet.
Incidental exposure of the battery pack to water is acceptable provided the
lithium ion cells remain dry.
• Do not disassemble or modify the battery. The battery contain safety and
protective devices, which, if damaged, may cause the batteries to generate
heat, explode or ignite.
WARNING
• Do not place the battery in direct sunlight or use or store the battery near
a source of heat or electric arc.
• Failure to observe these warnings may result in serious personal injury,
serious illness, or death.
CAUTION
• It is recommend that the battery is charged and stored at temperatures
between 4.5°C and 26.7°C. Charging at higher temperatures causes a
reduction in capacity and reduces battery life.
• Use caution to prevent puncturing or rupture of cells.
• If the lithium battery is damaged, appears to swell, leaks electrolytes or
gets abnormally hot during charging, discontinue its use immediately and
store in a fireproof container until it can be recycled.
• Do not leave the battery attached to the charger for more than 70 hours.
Check battery status: Press the On/Off Button shortly and the LED will blink.
Check the battery charge status on the lower scale.
Adjusting the air flow: The blower has three air flow levels: 170/210/240 L/
min. To change the air flow level, press the air flow button and scroll through
