RCD Test
Prior to testing, we recommend all loads are
switched off as they could falsify the measure-
ment result.
The protective earth must be free of external
voltage for the RCD test. However if an extra-
neous voltage is present, the instrument only
indicates the voltage VC having been generat-
ed by the measurement. The measurement in-
terruption caused by excess of UL by VC is only
generated by the actual volt-age present be-
tween the neutral conductor (N) and the pro-
tective earth (PE).
5.5.1 RCD Test
The instrument TELARIS 0100 allows the measure-
ment of trip times for standard RCDs and time-de-
layed RCDs. Additio-nally, the earth resistance and
the contact voltage are be measured.
This RCD test is divided into two tests: the prelimi-
nary test
at 1/3 I∆N, whereby the RCD should not trip. The
contact voltage VC and the earth resistance RE are
measured during this preliminary test. The contact
voltage is calculated to the nominal fault current I∆N
(or 2 I∆N for time-delayed RCDs). During the main
test, the selected nominal residual current flows
(I∆N or 2 I∆N), the RCD should trip.

The „time delayed RCD" option is only available
for nominal fault currents 100, 300, and
500mA.
The socket is continuously tested for perfect
functioning. If the display indicates the symbol
„Turn plug by 180°", turn the plug by 180° or
the connection N and L of the 3-pole test lead
must be exchanged.
If the socket symbol (6) is displayed, a mains
error is present. If the voltage present between
N and PE exceeds the pre-selected contact volt-
age limit (50V/25V), „UB>UL" (4) is displayed.
For complete socket testing, touch the contact
electrode "PE" (23) and observe the display in-
dication. If the symbol „socket error" (6) oc-
curs, a PE error is present.
" If the socket is correctly wired, the preliminary
test is started by pressing the start key (25).
