Installation
1 – Observe current regulations.
2 – When installating the boiler keep in mind that
to obtain the nominal output indicated on the
nameplate, the cross-section and height of
the chimney should be in accordance with
the graph.
3 – Even when the pump can be fi tted to either the
fl ow or return of the boiler, in solid fuel fi red
installations it is advisable to install it close to
the boiler in the return circuit to prevent the
effects of thermal inertia in case of a cut in
the electricity supply; and even so, the boiler
should be fi tted with an antirunaway device
AE-10 or AE-2, according to the number of
sections.
Delivery
1 – The P-30 boiler for solid fuel fi ring is delivered
in two packages:
– Boiler body, fully assembled, painted with
antirust primer, protected with wooden
packing for transport. The ashpan under the
grate. The automatic temperature regulator,
in its packing, and the shovel inside the
combustion chamber.
– The whole casing in cardboard packing,
which contains:
Casing, comprising:
– Top cover.
– Right–hand panel.
– Left-hand panel.
– Back cover.
– Charging door case.
– Ashpit door case.
Boiler stoking tools.
– Flue brush.
– Brush handle.
– Scraper.
– Slice bar
Insulating blanket for the boiler. Plastic bag
which contains: The protective cover for the
regulator, the screws for fi xing it, as well as
the screws and washers for fi xing the casing
to the charging and ashpit doors.
2 – The P-30 boiler for fl uid fuel fi ring is delivered
in three packages. The contents of two or
them are the same as those for the solid fuel
fi ring boiler, whilst the one containing the
complementary equipment for fl uids, protected
with cardboard packing, comprises:
– Burner door with fi tted casing.
– Baffl e plate.
– Control panel.
Plastic bag which contains:
– Microswitch set for the burner door.
Plastic bag which contains:
– The hinges, screws and pins for fi tting the
burner door to the boiler.
Assembly
Checking the material
It is suggested that fi rst of all the number of
packages should be checked, and that their
contents agree with those indicated in "Delivery"
and that no incident of transport or lying on site
has altered the composition.
– Open the ashpit door (1).
– Lower the front section grille (2) hinged on
the builtin section brackets (3) and leave it in
inverted position.
– Remove the mater ial contained in the
combustion chamber and replace the grille in
its original position.
– Open the charging door by turning the handle
and check the fl ues to make sure that no foreign
matter has entered them.
Location
– Check that the P-30 boiler is level on the chosen
working base and that this complies with the
contents of "Installation".
Temperature Regulator
– Remove the plastic cap which protects the
threads of the 1 1/4" x 3/4" bushing (4) in
the front section and fi t the body with handle
of the automatic temperature regulator (5)*,
according to the instructions which come with
this accessory.
* In boilers designed for continuous use of fl uid fuels,
this operation can be omitted and the bushing (4)
substitued by a 1 1/4" plug. Nevertherless, from the
aesthetic point of view it is suggested that this piece be
fi tted. In any case it is preferable not to fi t the hexagonal
rod and chain permanently until after assembly of the
casing.
Controls
– In boilers designed for continuous use of solid
fuels*. if it is decided to fi t a combined temp./
altitude gauge, the metal plug should be
removed from the top tapping (6) in the front
section and the sheath should be screwed into
it. The combined temp./altitude gauge shall be
installed after fi tting the casing. If a hydrometer
and thermometer are being fi tted separately, the
former will have to be screwed into the same
tapping (6) in the front section, after fi tting the
casing.
* In boilers designed for continuous use of fl uid fuels,
this operation should be omitted.
Insulating blanket
– Cover the body of the boiler with the insulating
blanket (7) passing it between the body and the
four tie-rods (8) to ensure its immobility.
Connecting to the installation
– Remove the plastic cap which protects the
threads in the upper (9) and lower (10) tappings
in the back section and make connections to the
fl ow and return circuits respectively.
– Remove the plug from the tapping (11) in the
back section and fi t a drain cock.
Safety devices
– Fit specifi c safety devices for sealed system
and open vented installations, according to
the diagrams referring to installations for solid
or fl uid fuels. In any case, the diameters of
the safety pipes shall comply with current
regulations.
Connecting to the fl ue duct system
The dimensions of the chimney should conform
to the heights and cross-sections recommended
in "Installation".
– Connect the boiler to the flue duct system
through the smoke hood (12).
– Carefully seal the outline of the chimney base
with putty and check the sealing of the smoke
hood to make sure that no air can leak in.

equipment for using fl uid fuels
– Open the ashpit door (1) and lower the grille
on the front section (3). This precautionary
operation will prevent the problem that on
closing the burner door (13), with the burner
fi tted, the blast tube (14) might be damaged
by hitting the grille, should this be in its original
position.
– Fitting the burner door (13) to the boiler does
not make it necessary for the ashpit door (1)
to be removed. It is suffi cient to leave the latter
open and hang the former from the hinges (15)
after fi xing them to the left of the front section
by means of the four bolts which, together with
two set pins are supplied with the door inside a
plastic bag.
– Open the charging door and fi t the baffl e plate
(16) resting it on the brackets incorporated on
the interior side surfaces of the fi rst intermediate
section. Close the charging door.
– Fit the microswitch (17) (a switch necessary for
preventing accidental functioning of the burner
when using solid fuels), with its bracket (18) on
the lower right part of the rear surface of the
front section, using the two bolts M4x25* in such
a way that the operating lever can be pushed by
the M5x55* bolt (19) which will have been fi xed
in the hole for this purpose in the burner door,
with an M5* nut.
* Supplied in a plastic bag together with the microswitch.
– Fix the burner on the door (13) with the fl ange
adapted for "BAXI" burners, according to the
instructions that come with it. Close the burner
door and fasten it with the locking screw (20).
Controls
– Insert the sheath* in the tapping (6) and the
shealth of the hydrometer in the control panel
in the tapping (21) or in (22) in the front section,
after removing the metal plugs from both.
* Supplied in a plastic bag inside the control panel packing.
Watertight test
– Fill the installation with water and check that
there is no leakage in the hydraulic circuit.
Fitting the casing
According to whether the boiler is going to be
used continuously with solid or fl uid fuels, it is
advisable to leave free the pre-punched holes
in the top cover which may be necessary, taking
into consideration the apparatus or control panel
which will be fi tted. For the last case, the three
holes should be cleared.
– Rest the top cover (23) on the boiler.
– Situate the right (24) and left* (25) side casing
panels on the corresponding sides of the
boiler. The left panel incorporates the grommet
(26) for introducing the cable for the electrical
connection between the burner and the control
panel in boilers for fl uid fuel fi ring.
* When the boiler has a burner door, the pre-punched
slots (27) on the front edge which coincide with the
hinges should be left free.
– The lower front brackets (28) must be fi xed
between the two nuts at the ends of the relevant
tie-rods*, whilst the rear ones (29) fi t on the ends
of the tie-rods.
* Where a burner door has been fi tted to the boiler,
this should be opened to allow easy manipulation
of the nuts.
– Insert the side edges of the top cover (23) into
the locating lugs (30) on the upper edges of the
side casing panels.
– Hang the rear cover (31) introducing the four
locating lugs into the corresponding slots (32) made
on the rear edge of the side casing panels.
– Fit the casing panels (33) and (34) on to the
charging and ashpit doors respectively, using
the screws and washers provided.
– Fix* the hexagonal rod and temperature regulator
chain (8) as indicated in the instructions that
come with it.
– Open the charging door and fi t* the plate (35) for
protecting the temperature regulator in the front
part of the top casing cover, using the two B3.5
x 9.5 blued bolts supplied. Close the charging
door.
* In boilers for continuous use of fl uid fuels, this operation
will not be necessary if the temperature regulator has
not been fi tted.
– In boilers designed for solid fuel fi ring, screw
the hydrometer or the combined temp./altitude
gauge, whichever control unit is chosen, into
the pocket provided for this purpose in the front
section. (See the "Assembly" section).
