3.7 ARC-AIR CUTTING. ARC-AIR. (Exclusive for GAR CONTINUOS 550).
This procedure is ideal for grooving parts, eliminating slag and pores from cast parts as well as for repairing
cracked welding.
It also permits rough cutting metal parts. The preparation diagram is described in figure
13. Apart from the equipment, the installation must also include a compressed air compressor.

TIPS:
• Use graphite electrodes for direct current.
• The arc-air gouging process must be carried out maintaining a distance between clamp and graphite
electrode tip of 100 to 150 mm. A forward advance must be established in the process with a maximum
electrode inclination of 45º. If the arc is interrupted, this may be due to the following reasons:
- The carbon electrode is very hot. You must let it cool down.
- The voltage regulation is low. Go on to TIG WORKING MODE with regulation at maximum.
- The working pressure is very high. Lower the pressure.
- The inclination given in the process is almost perpendicular to the part.
WARNING: SEPARATE THE MACHINE SUFFICIENTLY FROM THE WORKSTATION.
