Starting

Starting with Pre-heating - GHS6.5, GHS8, GHS14,
GHS24, GLS6.5, GLS14 and GLS25 -
Press the 'ON' button briefly; the 'In Operation', 'Oil Pressure'
and 'Charge' warning lamps will light up and the electric fuel
pump will start operating.
If the engine is cold, operate the pre-heating.
Press the 'Pre-heat' button and keep it down for 0 seconds..
Press the 'START' button and release it as soon as the engine
fires.

Release the 'START' button if the engine does not
start within 0 seconds.
Wait until the engine has stopped completely
before pressing the 'START' button again.
Do not allow the starter motor to run for more than 20 seconds
at a time.
If the engine will not start after repeated efforts, a large quantity
of water could collect in the exhaust silencer/water lock as a
consequence.
Excess water in the exhaust silencer can also prevent the engine
starting. If necessary, drain water from the silencer.
The green LED above the 'ON' button will remain on, to indicate
that the engine is running.
Check that the 'Charge' warning lamp is off. Cooling water
should now flow from the exhaust, if this is not the case, stop the
generator set immediately. The ship's electrical equipment can
be switched on after a few minutes.
NEVER switch the main switch (between battery
and generator set) Off while the engine is run-
ning.
