Setup instructions
The DVB-S(2)-QAM (QPSK/8PSK on QAM) transmodulator is set up using the controller on the base unit UFG 404 or UFG 412 or
UFG 412/R.
Required controller software version: from version V9.32
For setup, connect the controller to the module. The buttons listed below refer to the controller (see also the user instructions for the
UFG 404, etc. base units and the UFG 300 controller).
Note:
The settings and numerical values shown below are intended as an example and do not necessarily match
the delivery status.
Select the desired parameter using the "<" and ">" buttons.
The selected parameter fl ashes in the display.
The setting is made using the "+" and "-" buttons and where necessary using the "Change setting mode" button
The sub-menus are activated and deactivated by pressing the "Sub-menu" button
Finally, press "M" to save the setting in the module.
Note:
If the controller is disconnected from the module by pressing the "M" button without saving the settings,
the settings originally stored in the module are reactivated.
The following representation shows the appearance of the display after plugging in the controller:

"*"
Left of "TP":
Indicates "desired operating mode not yet reached", displayed permanently in case of error.
If the indicator is fl ashing, the channel unit cannot operate properly.
Reasons for this include:
- Input frequency or symbol rate set incorrectly
- No input signal
Right of "Outp.":
The channel unit output is switched off
"!"
The exclamation mark indicates that the settings for the output symbol rate and COFDM mode are not suffi cient for
processing the input data rate (i.e. the input data rate is greater than the output data rate).
- without the channel fi lter a defective output signal will be output.
- with the channel fi lter, the data rate can be suffi ciently reduced by fi ltering out individual channels. The exclamation mark
indicates here that the user should check the correct function.
Note:
As the possible data rate for DVB-S is higher than the maximum data rate for DVB-T, the channel fi lter is
usually required. The number of transmitted channels must be adjusted to the transmission capacity and
checked by the user. If the data rate is too high on the output, it causes transmission errors and thus image
failures.
