Operation

Before loosening the clamping:
Warning
Danger of crushing! Uncontrolled advance of piston rod.
When the clamp is loosened, the piston rod can move suddenly. Uncontrolled
movements of the connected actuators can cause personal injury or material
damage.
S Make sure that there is an equilibrium of forces on the piston of the operat
ing cylinder (see circuitry examples).
Especially when the device is mounted vertically, there is a danger of the
piston rod extending suddenly when it is loosened due to the axial force ap
plied (mass force).
After an emergency stop and after each adjustment, consider:

The further operational reliability of the clamping unit may be impaired, de
pending on the brake loading.
S Check the clamping unit after each emergency stop and after each adjust
ment, at least once a month, to ensure that it functions correctly (see chapter
Commissioning carrying out").
If the clamping unit is set correctly, it will clamp the mass securely. Otherwise
the clamping unit must be adjusted again (see chapter Commissioning
preparation").
If there are modifications to the work load / operating pressure:

Work load masses which have been increased at a later stage, as well as modi
fied operating pressures, will have an effect on the clamping conditions and will
impair operational reliability.
S Make sure that the maximum permitted loadings are not exceeded.
If the clamping unit is set correctly, it will clamp the mass. Otherwise the
clamping unit must be adjusted again (see chapter Commissioning prepa
ration").
