Installation
Disconnect Power
NOTICE Before performing any generator installation,maintenance,
or service, ALWAYS perform the following steps:
1. Set generator's circuit breaker to its OFF position.
2. Depress the control panel OFF switch for 3 seconds.
3. Remove 15 Amp fuse from control panel.
4. Utility voltage is present at generator control panel.
Disconnect power before servicing control panel by removing
the fuses from the transfer switch.
Install Front Oil Warmer (6231,6254)
1. Using the oil collection container, drain oil from engine as
described in Maintenance in the generator operator's manual.
2. Position oil rags to collect residual oil from crankcase.
3. Remove the oil drain hose (A) from the forward facing side of
the crankcase.
4. The elbow-fitting-equipped oil warmer (B) must be installed in
place of the oil drain hose facing the front of the generator.
5. Hand thread oil warmer into crankcase.
NOTICE Do not use thread sealant or Teflon tape as oil warmer is
coated with sealant.
6. Tighten front oil warmer ¼ turn past snug. Orient the warmer
such that the oil drain hose will allow oil to drain properly
through the hose.
7. Hand thread the oil drain hose in the oil warmer elbow fitting.
Tighten the hose to the oil warmer elbow ¼ turn past snug.
Install Rear Oil Warmer (6231,6254)
1. Position rags to collect residual oil from the crankcase
and remove the plug from the rearward facing side of the
crankcase. Discard plug.
2. The non-elbow-fitting equipped oil warmer (C) must be
installed in place of the oil drain plug facing the rear of the
generator.

3. Hand thread oil warmer into crankcase.
NOTICE Do not use thread sealant or Teflon tape as oil warmer is
coated with sealant.
4. Tighten rear oil warmer ¼ turn past snug.
Install Oil Warmer Wire Harness (6231,6254)
1. Connect the 2-pin male plug on the warmer harness to the
2-pin female receptacle on the generator wire harness (D).
The 2-pin female receptacle is located near the engine starter.
2. Connect the 2-pin female receptacle on the warmer harness
to the 2-pin male plug on the rear oil warmer (E).
3. Route the warmer harness (F) under the engine/alternator
assembly. Connect the remaining warmer harness 2-pin

receptacle to the 2-pin male plug on the front oil warmer.
4. Add engine oil to full mark on dipstick according to the
instructions in the Maintenance section in the operator's
manual.

5. Start engine and inspect for leaks. If leaks are found, repair as
necessary.
