Install Battery Warmer (6231)
WARNING Battery posts, terminals and related
accessories contain lead and lead compounds, chemicals
known to the State of California to cause cancer and
reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling.
NOTICE The battery warmer must be installed after the
generator installation is complete. Do not transport the
generator with the battery and/or battery warmer installed.
1. Consult the Installation Manual for recommended
battery type and sizing.
2. Set the generator's circuit breaker to the OFF position.
3. Depress the control panel OFF switch for 3 seconds.
4. Remove the 15 Amp fuse from the system control
panel.
NOTICE Utility voltage is present at the control panel.
Disconnect power before servicing the control panel by
removing the fuses from the transfer switch.
5. Remove the two fasteners securing the panel at the
right hand side of the generator. Remove the panel.
6. If an existing battery is in place, loosen and disconnect
the negative (-) battery cable from the negative battery
terminal. Then remove the positive (+) battery cable
from the positive battery terminal. Remove the battery
from the unit and set aside.

7. Place battery warmer (G) in the recessed area (H) of
the base as shown.
8. Lift and place battery onto the battery warmer.
NOTICE Do not slide battery or warmer. This may cause
damage to the battery warmer heating element. The
battery warmer, its leads and connectors, must never
be subject to abrasion, sharp objects or abuse.
9. Position battery against the base of the battery warmer.
The lip (J) on the battery warmer must be positioned
next to the battery as shown.
10. Connect the 2-pin female receptacle (K) on the
generator wire harness to the 2-pin make plug on the
battery warmer as shown.
11. Insert the supplied self-tapping screw through the
battery warmer ground wire (L) and secure to base of
unit.
12. Connect and tighten the positive (+) battery cable to
the positive battery terminal. Ensure the cable is fully
seated on the battery post.
13. Connect and tighten the negative (-) battery cable to the
negative battery terminal.
14. After all the servicing has been completed, replace fuses in
transfer switch, replace 15 Amp fuse in the system control
panel, set control panel to automatic mode by pressing and
holding the AUTO button for 3 seconds.
