Advance variation check
The check of the advance angle with engine charge can be carried out only after
checking the idle advance.
•
After the advance angle check the timing light is in the rest mode; the three
displays of the dash board are on.
•
Take the engine at the RPM indicated by the manufacturer trying to maintain it as
stable as possible by reading the measurement on the timing light display.
•
Disconnect the vacuum device pipe (if not differently indicated by the
manufacturer) in case the car to be tested is equipped with it.
•
Aim the timing light to the fixed reference and hold the FLASH key (11) down, the
flash starts flashing to show that the advance degrees display has been enabled.
•
Rotate the Deviator (10) until the fixed TDC reference mark corresponds to the
movable mark.
•
Rotate it to the left or to the right to move the TDC movable reference mark
(see picture c).
•
Press continuously the DEVIATOR to carry out a rapid increase or decrease;
press and release immediately for a 0,1° decrease or increase.
•
Read the advance angle on the instrument display and compare it to the
manufacturer's data.
•
Release the FLASH (11) key to stop the advance reading.
•
In case of check of the advance angles related to other engine revolution values
repeat the above described operations starting from the first point.
ATTENTION:
In case the instrument performs a wrong reading of the engine revolutions,
turn the induction clamp from standard sensitivity to reduced sensitivity
(see chapter 3.2).
