Operation
4.1
Connection to vehicle
The KTS 650 is set up for operation with a voltage
supply of 12 V and 24 V.

Make sure that the diagnostic cable on the KTS 650
is plugged in correctly. If incorrectly plugged in, the
pins on the male connector may be broken off.

When suspending the KTS 650 on the stee-
ring wheel, there is a risk of injury due to
activation of the airbag.

When placing the KTS 650 in the engine compart-
ment, there is a risk of short-circuit for the vehicle
battery due to the metallic housing base.

Switch on
Switch on the KTS 650 with the button.
"
The KTS 650 remains in the start screen "Diagnostics
Software Selection" after system start. The start
screen will always be displayed after switching on.
The displayed applications can be selected in the start
screen. Touch the application, with which you want to
work, with the stylus. If a PS/2 keyboard is connected,
select the desired application with the arrow key ou.
Start the application with E.

The application "Software Installation" is only
available, if the DVD "ESI[tronic]" is in the external
DVD drive and this is connected to the KTS 650. This
application is needed for the software update, see
also Chapter 4.6 "Software Update Installation".
4.
Switch off
There are several ways of switching the KTS 650 off:
By pressing the On/Off button, the KTS 650 is

shut down.
By pressing the # key, the Windows start menu is

opened and you can shut down the KTS 650 with
Exit.

You can also select "Exit Windows" in the
Diagnostics Software Selection. All the active
applications will be closed and the KTS 650 switches
itself off.

If the KTS 650 can no longer be operated due to a
computer fault, you can switch off the KTS 650 by
pressing the On/Off key and the # Windows start
menu key (see Fig. 2) at the same time for at least
three seconds.
