5. SAFETY DEVICES
In addition to electronically controlled devices, the machine has other electromechanical safety
mechanisms;
5.1.
Safety thermostat
Manually reset, this is at the rear of the control side. This disconnects the power supply to the heating
resistors when the temperature exceeds 220ºC. To reset this device, unscrew the cap and tighten the
black bolt with a tool until it clicks. Then replace the cap. Check the cause of the high temperature.
5.2.
Power switch
Switches off the power supply to the machine.
5.3.
Emergency stop
This switches off the machine immediately in any situation. It is activated by pressing the button. To
reset it, turn the button clockwise until it locks into place.
5.4.
Fuses
These protect the primary and secondary circuits of the transformer and the auxiliary circuit for total
protection of the electrical installation.
5.5.
Finger guard
This protects hands from possible burns or trapping, by inverting the direction of rotation of the roller and
lifting the heating shoe.
6. MAINTENANCE
All maintenance work must be carried out by the service centres authorised by our representatives or by
trained personnel.
BEFORE STARTING ANY MAINTENANCE WORK, DISCONNECT THE POWER SUPPLY TO THE
MACHINE AT THE MAINS.
Take care during the maintenance work. Safety devices should never be cancelled. Use original spare
parts. In the event of queries, please refer to the Technical Assistance Service, quoting the model of
machine and the serial number located on the specifications plate at the rear of the machine.
6.1.
Monthly checks
Check the circumference of the cylinder using a tape measure. It should measure between 570 mm and
600 mm uniformly along the whole length of the roller. If the circumference is less than 570 mm, it will be
necessary to pad the cover by adding steel wool. Eventually the padding will require replacement. If you
have any queries regarding these operations, please refer to the Technical Assistance Service.
6.2.
Annual checks
Check that the safety systems operate correctly: the safety thermostat, the finger guard, the connection
to the earth circuit and the operation of the safety switch located in front of the machine.
Lubricate the chain with grease and, if necessary, tension the chain using the bolts fastening it to the
gear motor. The gear does not require maintenance, as it is lubricated sufficiently to last its lifetime. Nor
do the two gas springs require maintenance.
Check the closure of the bolts of the electrical power connection on the step relays and on the intake
terminal panel.
