4. Fitting and Changing the Gas Cylinder
• This appliance can only use a 20 lb gas cylinder
• The cylinder must have a shut-off valve with OPD (overfill Protection Device) feature.
The OPD saftey feature is identified by a unique triangular hand wheel as fig. 4 shows.
• The cylinder must have a collar to protect the cylinder shut off valve.
Connecting the appliance to a cylinder:
• Make sure the appliance valve is in "Off" position.
• Hand tighten the hose end nut hand wheel anti-clockwise onto the appliance valve.
Don't use a wrench to tighten, as it will damage the valve and cause serious leaking hazards.
• Remove the dust cap on cylinder valve and hand tighten the hose assembly QCC nut clock-wise
onto the cylinder valve.
• Check the hose and make sure no damage or ware is visible.
• Open the gas cylinder valve by turning it anti-clockwise and check the hose and connectors with soap water.
• Ensure no leaks/bubbles are found before use. If a leak is found, turn off the gas cylinder valve and detach the cylinder from the
appliance. Call your LP gas dealer for the repair.
To disconnect the cylinder from the appliance:
• Turn off the appliance valve to the "Off" position.
• Turn of the cylinder valve fully off by turning the control knob clockwise.
• Turn of the QCC nut by turning it anti-clockwise and detach the hose assembly from the cylinder.
• Place dust cap onto the cylinder valve .
• The gas must be turned off at the LP gas supply cylinder when the appliance is not in use.
• When the LP gas cylinder is not disconnected from the appliance, the appliance and cylinder must be stored outdoors, in a well
ventilated space, out of the reach of children, and must not be stored in a building, garage or any other enclosed area.
• The appliance is only permissible to be stored indoors after the cylinder has been disconnected and removed from the appliance.
The LP gas supply cylinder to be used must be:
• Constructed and marked in accordance with the Specification for LP-Gas Cylinder of the U.S. Department of Transportation (D.O.T.)
or the National Standard of Canada, CAN/CSA-B339, Cylinders, Spheres and Tubes for Transportation of Dangerous Goods; and
Commission, as applicable; and
• Provided with a listed overfilling prevention device.
• Provided with a cylinder connection device compatible with the connection for outdoor cooking appliances.
• The cylinders must be stored outdoors out of the reach of children and must not be stored in a building, garage or any other enclosed
area.
NOTE:
• Do not store a spare LP-gas cylinder under or near this appliance
• Never fill the cylinder beyond 80 percent full; and
• If the information above is not followed exactly, a fire causing death or serious injury may occur.
• Place dust cap on cylinder valve outlet whenever the cylinder is not in use. Only install the type of dust cap on the cylinder valve outlet
that is provided with the cylinder valve. Other types of caps or plugs may result in leakage of propane.
5. General Maintenance
• There are no predetermined maintenance intervals for this appliance.
•
It is dangerous to use an appliance with a cracked or perished seal and/or hose. Inspect both
seals and hose regularly and replace if they are not in order before using the appliance.
•
If the appliance was in use it will be hot. Allow to cool sufficiently before attempting any
maintenance.
•
CADAC Patio BBQ's are fitted with spesific CADAC jets to regulate the correct amount of gas.
Should the hole in the Jet become blocked it may result in a small flame or no flame at all.
Do not attempt to clean the Jet with a pin or other such device as this may damage the hole,
which could make the appliance unsafe. Refer to "Introduction" (Section 1) for jet sizes.
Replacing a Blocked Jet
•
Ensure that the cylinder valve is closed, then disconnect the appliance from the gas cylinder.
•
Remove the grill plates. Remove the flame tamers to expose the burners. Remove the retaining
screws of the affected burner.
•
Remove the affected burners securing screw at the back of the burner box. Remove the effected
burner by gently pushing it sideways from the rear and then lift it out of its location taking care
not to damage the control valve whilst doing so. This will expose the Jet. (Fig 5a-b)
•
Unscrew the blocked Jet with a suitable spanner and replace it with a new Jet.
Do not use pliers on the Jet as they can cause damage, making the Jet unusable or impossible
to remove.
•
To re-assemble, reverse the above procedure. Do not over tighten as this may damage the Jet.
Replacment of hose assembly
•
Do not use the gas grill if the hose appears damaged. Call your local stockist for a replacement
gas hose assembly. The replacement of the regulators and hose assembly must be those specified by the manufacturer.
•
When checking the hose for leakes, DO NOT USE A FLAME, Use only soapy water. If there is a leak, bubble will appear at the location
of the leak.
