Safety Information
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS - This manual contains
important instructions that must be followed during
installation, operation, and maintenance of this
pump. Also familiarize yourself with the following
safety symbols and their meanings:
DANGER: Indicates a hazard which, if not avoided,
will result in death or serious injury.
WARNING: Indicates a hazard which, if not
avoided, could result in death or serious injury.
CAUTION: Indicates a hazard which, if not
avoided, could result in minor or moderate injury.
NOTICE: Addresses practices not related to personal injury
□
Installation and electrical wiring must adhere to
state and local codes and must be completed
before priming the pump. Check appropriate
community agencies, or contact local electrical
and pump professionals.
□
Call an electrician when in doubt. The pump
should be connected to a separate 5 amps
circuit breaker or 5 amp fuse block. Note that
plugging into existing outlets may cause low
voltage at the motor. This could cause blown
fuses, tripping of motor overload or a burned
out motor.
□
The following may cause severe damage to the
pump and will void the warranty:
□
Using an extension cord
□
Cutting off the ground pin or using an
adapter fitting
□
Working on a pump or switch while
plugged in
□
Removing the motor housing, unscrewing
the impeller, or otherwise removing the
impeller seal
□
Running the pump continuously

□
Plastic PVC pipe can be installed in the outlet
piping. Drain hose, galvanized steel or copper
pipe may be used if desired.
□
All piping must be clean and free of all foreign
matter to prevent clogging.
□
Pump will be inadequate if suspension liquids
contain solid particles larger than 1/8 in.

Pumping chemicals or corrosive liquids
Pumping gasoline or other flammable
liquids
WARNING: Do not work on the pump until you
disconnect the power.
WARNING: Do not cut off the ground pin or use an
adaptor fitting.
WARNING: A permanent ground connection from
the pump to the grounding bar at the service panel is
mandatory. These pumps come with a grounding
conductor and a grounding-type attachment plug. Do
not connect the pump to a power supply until
permanently grounded. For maximum safety, connect
the pump to a circuit equipped with a fault
interrupter device when positioning the pump's
grounding wire.
WARNING: The voltage power supply must match
the voltage of the pump.
WARNING: Before installing the pump, clear the
sump basin of any water, debris, or sediment. The
basin must be vented in accordance with local
plumbing codes. These pumps are not designed for
and CANNOT be installed in locations classified as
hazardous.
CAUTION: Do not use an extension cord. The
pump power cord should be connected to a
separately fused, grounded line with a minimum
capacity of 5 amps. It can be connected to non-fuse
breaker at the recommended amperes.
