Starting and stopping
Before starting
WARNING! Please read the operator's

manual carefully and make sure you
understand the instructions before using
the machine.
Wear personal protective equipment. See
instructions under the heading
"Personal protective equipment".
•
Keep people and animals well away from the working
area.
•
Perform daily maintenance. See instructions in the
section "Maintenance".
•
Ensure the ignition lead sits correctly on the spark
plug.
Starting
Cold engine
Excellent S H, Comet S H, Pro 19 S H Set the throttle
•
control in the choke position.
Start the engine
Excellent S, Excellent S H, Comet S, Comet S H,
Pro 19 S H
•
Set the throttle control to full throttle.
Excellent S H, Comet S H, Pro 19 S H Open the fuel
•
tap.
•
The engine brake handle must be held against the
handlebar when the engine is started.
•
Position yourself behind the machine.
•
Grip the starter handle, slowly pull out the cord with
your right hand until you feel some resistance (the
starter pawls grip). Pull with force to start the engine.
Never twist the starter cord around your hand.
OPERATING
Comet SE
•
The engine brake handle must be held against the
handlebar when the engine is started.
•
Turn the ignition key clockwise and keep it in this
position until the engine starts.
•
At the first start-up, the battery might be insufficiently
charged. If this is the case, use the starter cord to start
the engine as per instructions below. Then charge the
battery using the battery charger supplied. See
instructions in the section "Maintenance".
Drive
•
To engage the drive, push the clutch lever forwards.
Stopping
•
Stop the engine by releasing the engine brake handle.
The drive is also disengaged when you release the
brake handle.
•
By releasing the brake lever a bit only the drive will be
disengaged.
