Intended Use

Purpose:
– The Alibi memory is a data storage device (DSD) that
records the results of weighing operations without altering data
characteristics, and can thus replace a data printer.
It is intended for use as a type-approved data storage device
and offers the following performance features:
Storage of up to 130,944 data records
Each weighing result must be saved with an ID number.
– Each record includes the following data:
– Date
– Time
– Unambiguous sequential number (transaction counter)
– Weighing instrument number (WP1, WP2) (Signum only)
– Weighing instrument serial number
– Net value with information on decimal point,
unit of measurement, d = e information
– Gross value with information on decimal point,
unit of measurement, d = e information
– Tare 1 memory data with information on decimal point,
unit of measurement, d = e information
– Tare 2 memory data with information on decimal point,
unit of measurement, d = e information
– Checksum
– Memory search based on date and time or unambiguous number
of the data record
– User-definable minimum storage period
Note:
!
The operator is solely responsible for ensuring that
sufficient data storage capacity is available and that the
stored weighing data is accessible.

Information on Verification for Legal Metrology

Continually issued weighing results which have not been previ-
ously saved and which do not have an ID number may not be
used for legal metrology (filing, controlling etc.). Due to the lack
of identification it is not permitted for them to be transferred
for the purposes of legal metrology.
Any time values from the weighing instrument are processed
(stored or printed) after having been stored in the Alibi memory,
the data stored for identification of these values (time stamp
or transaction number) must be included (stored or printed)
with the processed data. Responsibility for ensuring compliance
lies with the customer and is not automatically checked by the
weighing instrument software.
Examination of the saved weighing results must be possible for
all customers/suppliers.
Features:
– The Alibi memory is used as a ring buffer, i.e. once the memory
is full the oldest entries are overwritten with the new ones.
– So that the customer can control this overwriting process, the
customer has the option of setting up a minimum memory
period (period).
– The period is entered in days and can have a value between
0-255.
– If an overwrite process will take place in the Alibi memory, then
the most recent entry of the values to be overwritten (16 entries
are deleted at once) are compared with the current date. If the
difference is greater than the period entered, the values are
deleted, otherwise there is an error message (ERR2632) and the
memory and print processes are cancelled.
– Before comparing, the date of the entry to be overwritten is
checked. If it is inconsistent (year before 2007 or after 2049),
then no comparison with the current time takes place and the
old entries are overwritten, regardless of the period.
– If the value of the period is zero, then the check is turned off via
the overwrite process.
– If a real-time clock was not detected at start-up of the device,
the period is always automatically set to zero. If there is a real-
time clock, the default value of the period is 90 days (3 months).
– If the clock shows an inconsistent date, using the Alibi memory
is prevented with an error message (ERR2627). This allows the
customers to set the clock correctly.
