WARNINGS :
- Before using this product, carefully read through these
instructions, ensure that you understand them and keep them
safe.
- Any work at heights is risky; only individuals with perfect
health and in good physical condition should work at heights
and confront any emergency situations.
- This equipment is a vital safety instrument; any incorrect use
can cause mortal danger to the user in case of a fall.
- It is recommended to assign this equipment individually to a
user in order to ensure better surveillance.
- It must only be used by a competent person who has been
trained in its use, or someone placed under the supervision
of such a person who is capable of ensuring the safety of the
intervener.
- The rescue solutions required for any rescue operation must
be planned before and during any intervention.
- This equipment must not be used in excess of its limits or in
any situation other than what it has been designed for.
DESCRIPTION (#2 , #3 , #4 , #5 , #6):
ALT'O is a full harness that is especially suited for work on ropes
or work that is difficult to access. It is made up of :
- 2 hooking points (1 back and 1 chest, #2) that allow connecting
a fall arrester system. These points are marked with the letter
A (Pursuant to the 361:2002 standard). The sternum point
also serves as support for the body during rescue operations
(Pursuant to the EN 1497:2007 standard).
- 2 lateral hooking points (#3) that allow maintaining a position
at the workstation and/or limiting movement (Pursuant to the
EN 358:1999 standard).
- 1 ventral hooking point (#4) that provides support at the
workstation and/or is meant to allow movement on the rope
(Pursuant to the EN 813:2008 standard).
- 4 tool holders and several strap loops for tool-holder
karabiners on the leg-straps and belt pad.
Materials: The main straps are made of polyester, and the other
components are made of polyamides and aluminium.
The ALT'O harness is available in 3 sizes (#6):
- Size S : 75 to 105 cm waist and 51 to 66 cm thigh
- Size M/ L : 85 to 120 cm waist and 56 to 77 cm thigh
- Size X L : 85 to 145 cm waist and 65 to 85 cm thigh
WEARING THE HARNESS (#7):
1 and 2 : Untangle the straps if required and then pull on the
harness like a pair of pants while ensuring that the straps do not
get twisted. Then adjust the belt to your waist by pulling on the
belt adjustment straps (Ref.: 6).
3 : Slide each of the leg straps up to the crotch, and click the
male and female parts of the automatic buckles together (Ref.:
12).
4 : Adjust the leg-strap width adjustment straps as appropriate
(Ref.: 7).
5 : Take the shoulder unit located at the back and slide your
head through it, taking care not to twist the straps.
6 : Position and lock the connector (Ref. 13) on the strap ring
located behind the chest D-ring.
7 : Adjust the shoulder-strap adjustment straps as appropriate
(Ref.: 5).
8 : Adjust the leg-strap height adjustment strap according to
your use and techniques (Ref. 8).
After each adjustment, adjust the excess strap in the elastic
loop designed for this purpose (Ref. 18).
METHODOLOGY
ADJUSTING THE PARTS OF THE BELT WITH LEG
STRAPS (#8) :
1 - Locking the automatic leg-strap buckles.
2 - Tightening )-( and widening (+) the leg straps.
3 - Widening (+) and tightening )-( the straps: shoulders – belt
– leg-strap height.
Before using the ALT'O for the first time or after any
adjustment has been made to it, suspension tests and
retention tests on each hooking and rescue points must
be carried out in a safe place to validate the comfort and
expected effectiveness.
VERIFICATIONS :
- Via a visual inspection, verify before, during and after use that
the equipment is in good condition and that there are no faults:
condition of the straps, seams, adjustment buckles, D-rings and
associated lanyards. - Ensure that there is no cuts, wear and tear,
fraying, incipient fractures, traces of rust or discoloration and
ensure that the markings are readable (identification and/or
date of validity). Ensure that the buckles are clean and that they
function properly.
- If there is any doubt on the reliability of the equipment, do
not use it without getting the written authorisation of a person
who is authorised to decide on its reuse.
- During assembly with other safety components, check their
compatibility and ensure that all of the recommendations and
