EXI0212_GBA_Rodi_I_BW:--
• Never strap yourself and a child together in a car using a 3 or 2-point safety belt.
• Set a good example and always wear your seat belt.
• Tell your child to never play with the belt buckle.
• Take short breaks on longer trips to allow your child some freedom of movement.
A. The seat belt
The Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR can be installed safely in a forward-facing position on nearly all positions in the car
1
using the available car seat belts. On some seats, however, the belts are fitted so far forward that proper
installation is not possible. Try a different seat in this case. In some instances, the seat belt buckle may be
too long and therefore positioned too high against the base of the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR (1). The Maxi-Cosi
Rodi XR can therefore not be installed securely. In that case, choose another seating position in the car.
Contact the manufacturer with any questions regarding this.
B. Using the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR in a car
The Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR consists of two parts: an adjustable seat and a removable backrest.
The backrest may NEVER be used without the booster seat. We recommend using the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR
for children weighing at least 15 kg and tall enough that the shoulder belt rests against their shoulder, not
their neck.
The points along which the car seat belt should be threaded are marked in red. There is a red-marked
opening under the armrests on the seat (lap belt) and red-marked belt hooks on the headrest (shoulder belt).
C. Attaching and removing the backrest with the seat
Place the backrest of the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR on a flat surface with the front facing downward (2). Next,
2
3
slide the seat at around a 50° angle into the hooks at the bottom of the backrest as shown in illustrations 2
4
and 3 (3). Push the seat downwards and under the backrest until they form a seat. The hooks on the
lumbar supports will now fall into the openings in the armrests. Continue pushing the backrest until you
hear a "click" (4). The Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR can be disassembled by carrying out these instructions in reverse
order.
D. Adjusting the height of the headrest
5
• Grab hold of the headrest with one hand on top so that your fingers fit into the positioning handle. Place
your other hand on the top of the backrest (5).
5
• Squeeze the positioning handle and pull up on the headrest while pushing against the backrest with your
other hand (5,1/5,2).
• Once you have reached the desired height, release the positioning handle, thereby allowing it to click into
the right position. There are 8 different positions. The "Placing your child in the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR"
section describes how to determine the correct height of the headrest for your child.
E. Adjusting the position of the shoulder supports
6
The shoulder supports on the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR can be adjusted into 2 different positions, depending on
the size of the child. Grab hold of the shoulder supports and pull or push them into the desired position (6).
We only recommend folding out the shoulder supports on the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR if the space between the
shoulders of the child and the shoulder supports is smaller on both sides than the thickness of your hand.
This could be caused by thicker or thinner clothing or the fact that the child has grown.
F. Installing the Maxi-Cosi Rodi XR in a car using the anchor
Adjust the headrest on the passenger seat into the highest position. Adjust the headrest on the Maxi-Cosi
Rodi XR into the lowest position (see the "Adjusting the height of the headrest" section).
