Description
The module MSI-EM-IO84NP-xx serves to extend a MSI 400
systems by up to eight unsafe inputs and up to eight unsafe
outputs.
Configuration of the module is carried out using the software
MSI.designer.
The module fulfills the following tasks:
 Forwarding the input information to the main module
 Receipt of control signals from the main module and
corresponding switching of outputs
The module MSI-EM-IO84NP-xx cannot be used on its own,
and always needs a main module, see configuration software
MSI.designer.
Simultaneous use of several MSI-EM-IO84NP-xx modules is
possible (a maximum total of twelve MSI-EM-IO84NP-xx
units in a system).
Each input/output extension module MSI-EM-IO84NP-xx
must be connected to an external power supply for the
outputs.

Steps for mounting the extension modules
The MSI 400 system is only suitable for
mounting in the switch cabinet with a minimum
protection class of IP 54.
WARNING
 In an MSI 400 system, the MSI 4xx base module is on the
far left, immediately followed by both optional gateways on
the right. Then followed by the extension modules.
 Make sure appropriate ESD protective measures are
maintained when mounting. Otherwise, the internal safety
bus may be damaged.
 The connection between the modules is done via the
integrated connector in the housing.
 Please note, when replacing a module, the MSI 400
modules are pushed apart approx. 10 mm before the
corresponding module can be removed from the standard
rail.
 Take the appropriate measures to prevent foreign objects
from obstructing the connector openings.
 Mount acc. to EN 50274.
 The modules are contained in a 22.5 mm wide installation
housing for 35 mm standard rails in accordance with
EN 60715.
