Rebuilding
16. Re-install the developer augers (T) removed in step 15, using the new Katun gears provided.
17. Install the front developer handle cover (S), securing it with two screws removed in step 14. Install the new Katun developer handle seal tape (U).
18. Install new Katun developer auger section cover foam seal (V) if necessary. Install the developer auger section cover (R) with new Katun idler gear, securing it with the two
screws removed in step 13.
19. Install developer roller (Q) removed in step 12, using new Katun gears.
IMPORTANT: Apply a very light dusting of Kynar powder to the entire surface of the new Katun OPC drum and to the edge of the new Katun drum
cleaning blade prior to installation. APPLYING TOO MUCH KYNAR CAN CAUSE LIGHT STREAKS ON COPIES/PRINTS. NOTE: DO NOT TOUCH THE OPC
DRUM SURFACE OR THE URETHANE PORTION OF THE DRUM CLEANING BLADE DURING INSTALLATION.
20. Install the new OPC drum (O), inserting it into the rear of the unit first.
21. Install the new Katun drum cleaning blade (N) and secure it with the two screws removed in step 10.
22. From the front end of the unit, manually rotate the OPC drum clockwise at least one complete revolution to properly distribute Kynar powder and minimize the likelihood of
"blade flip."
23. Reinstall the PCU sensor actuator (M) removed in step 9 with the "<" mark on its surface pointing toward the left. IMPORTANT: If the PCU sensor actuator is not reinstalled
correctly, the cartridge will not function when installed into the machine.
24. Reinstall the rear plate (L) by securing it with the two screws removed in step 8.
25. Reinstall the rear drive hub (K) removed in step 7.
26. To reinstall the drum shutter (J) removed in step 6:
• Position the rear drum shutter return spring (H) so that the long end of the spring wraps around the outside of the metal arm. Then insert the metal arm into the hole on the
bottom of the unit.
• Position the front drum shutter return spring (G) so that the short squared end of the spring wraps around the outside of the metal arm. Then insert the metal arm into the
hole in the front plate, ensuring that the long end of the spring is placed above the cylindrical auger housing.
27. Reinstall the front plate (F), securing it with the screw removed in step 5.
28. Reinstall the shutter cam (E) by securing it with the screw removed in step 4.
29. Replace bronze contact plate (W) on drum charge roller unit (D) removed in step 3, and reinstall unit.
30. Reinstall the upper drum cover (B) removed in step 2 by reconnecting the intermediate connector (C) and gently sliding its six snap-fit tabs into place. NOTE: The intermediate
connector must remain outside the upper drum cover after installation. IMPORTANT: If the intermediate connector is not reconnected the unit will not function when installed
into the machine.
31. Install the new developer by pouring it evenly into the developer cartridge (A) until the bottle is completely empty. IMPORTANT: Use developer only with genuine Ricoh toner.
32. Reinstall the developer cartridge (A) removed in step 1 by carefully sliding its three snap-fit tabs into place. Install new Katun developer cartridge seal. Note: Ensure developer
cartridge seal surface is clean.
33. Install the red charge roller shipping supports if transporting the finished cartridge. Important: Remove charge roller shipping supports prior to installing unit into the machine.
