12.4 Centering of reflected light diaphragms
12.4.1 Field diaphragm (FS)
1. Move the selector ①
illuminator
in
the
corresponding to letter "R". (Fig. 46)
2. Place a specimen on the stage, insert 10x
objective and focus the specimen.
3. Rotate the knurled ring of the field diaphragm ②
in the direction shown by the arrow to fully close
the diaphragm. (Fig. 49)
4. Using the provided Allen wrench use the two
centering screws ③ to bring the bright spot in the
centre of the field of view.
5. Gradually open the diaphragm. The illuminator is
centred when the diaphragm image is symmetrical
to the field of view. (Fig. 50)
6. In normal use, open the diaphragm until it
circumscribes the field of view.
