Fig. 2 shows the wiring of the X-BUS to an expander/controller and a following
expander in spur configuration. Power for connected X-Bus devices must be taken
from one of the PSU power outputs (Fig. 2, item 1).Terminals 3A/3B and 4A/4B are
only used for branch wiring. If using a spur configuration, the last expander is not
wired back to the controller.

Wiring the inputs
The expander has 8 on-board zone inputs that can be configured as one of the
following:

Single End of Line
Dual End of Line (Fig. 3)
Anti-Masking PIR (Fig. 4)

Wiring the outputs
The expander and PSU relay logical outputs can be assigned to any of the SPC
system outputs. These relay outputs can switch a rated voltage of 30 V DC at 1A
(non-inductive load). Fig. 6 shows the wiring of an active high output.
When the relay is activated, the 'Common' terminal connection (COM) is switched
from the 'Normally Closed' terminal (NC) to the 'Normally Open' terminal (NO).

BUS communication types and failure timer, please refer to the SPC Installation &
Configuration Manual.
Mounting the G5 Housing with Tamper Protection
A tamper switch and back tamper bracket are fitted to the housing. The switch is
used on its own for front tamper only or used with the back tamper bracket for both
front and back tamper protection. Either back and/or front tamper protection is
required depending on local approval.
The tamper bracket is held firmly in place with a securing screw (Fig. 10,
item 1). Remember to remove this screw if commissioning the system for
back tamper protection. Do not remove this screw if using front tamper only.

Using the supplied mounting template, mark the 4 drill positions for fixing the
400 m

housing to the wall (see Fig. 8, item 1).
Drill and install suitable screws (see enclosed template) into the wall. Leave
the screws protruding 1.5 cm from the wall.
Front tamper comes pre-configured. To configure the housing for both front
and back tamper, remove the front tamper securing screw (Fig. 10, item 1).
The tamper bracket swings to the far right of the orientation slot.
Mount the G5 housing in the appropriate position on the wall and tighten the
4 mounting screws. Ensure that the housing is flush with the wall surface.
Move the tamper bracket to the far left of the orientation slot and tighten the
back tamper screw (Fig. 10, item 5) to the wall. The bracket should be
perpendicular to the back wall of the housing.
Install the cover on the housing to test the tamper switch connection. Lift the
cover by approximately 1 mm to activate the tamper switch.
WARNING - If the back tamper screw is not secure against the wall, then tamp
protection is compromised. If the housing is removed from the wall or displaced
the back tamper contact needs to be tested again for proper functionality and r
adjusted if required.

Appendix B: Choosing the Stand-by Battery
The table below shows the maximum total current (in mA) that can be drawn from
all 12 V DC load outputs.
Available current in mA = 1000 * (0.85 * battery capacity in Ah) / (standby time in
hours) – (PSU + expander current in mA).

The additional boards can be secured to the back wall of the housing and the shelf
separating the battery compartment using mounting pillars.
Appendix D: System Recovery
In the event of both a mains and battery power failure, the PSU Kickstart Switch
(Fig. 1, item 25) enables the system to be restarted when only battery power is
reinstated. Attach the battery leads. Press and hold the PSU Kickstart Switch. All
LEDs will flash. When the LEDs stop flashing, release the PSU Kickstart Switch.
