During installation, follow all local electrical and safety codes, as
well as the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the Occupational
Safety and Health Act (OSHA).
All wiring and electrical work should be done by a qualified
electrician.
For maximum safety, this pump should be connected to a three-
prong grounded outlet equipped with a ground fault circuit

gasoline, fuel oil, kerosene, etc. Pump should only be used with
liquids compatible with pump component materials. Failure to
follow this warning can result in property damage, personal injury,
or death.
Do not handle a pump or pump motor with wet hands or when
standing on a wet or damp surface, or in water. Do not stand in water
while changing fuses or insert your finger into the fuse socket.
Drain all liquids and release all pressure within the system before
servicing the pump or any component.
Make certain that the unit is disconnected from the power source
before attempting to service or remove any component.
Do not touch an operating motor. Modern motors are designed to
operate at high temperatures.
Provide adequate protection and guarding around moving parts.
Secure the discharge line before starting the pump. An unsecured
discharge line will whip, possibly causing personal injury and/or
property damage.
This pump is supplied with a grounding conductor and/or
grounding-type attachment plug. To reduce the risk of electric
shock, ensure that it is connected to a properly-grounded,
grounding-type receptacle.
Support the pump and its piping during assembly and after

installation. Failure to do so may cause damage to the pump
and/or piping.
Do not run the pump dry. It is designed to be cooled by the fluid it
moves. If the pump is run dry it will become dangerously hot, and
could cause personal injury and/or damage to the pump.
If your pump is equipped with a 3-prong electrical plug, the third
prong grounds the pump to prevent possible electrical shock
hazard. Do not remove the third prong from the plug.
A separate branch circuit is recommended.
Pump is equipped with an automatic resetting thermal protector
and may restart unexpectedly.

1. Check the pump label for proper voltage required. Do not
connect the pump to any voltage other than that shown.
2. The pump should be plugged directly into an electrical outlet. If
this is not available and an extension cord is used, make certain
that the connection between the pump and the extension cord
is not pulled into the water.
NOTE: This pump is intended to pump water only.
1. Install the pump in an upright (vertical position).
2. The pump will automatically check for water approximately
every 3 minutes. It will run for about 5 seconds, even with
no water present. After 5 seconds it will turn off if no water
is present; otherwise it will run continuously until the water
reaches the shut-off level.
3. To start the pump manually, disconnect the cord from the
power source, wait 5 seconds, then reconnect the cord.
