INTRODUCTION
EN
This instruction sheet provides you with the information required to safely own
and operate your Red Lion pump. Retain these instructions for future reference.
The Red Lion pump you have purchased is of the highest quality workmanship
and material, and has been engineered to give you long and reliable service.
Red Lion pumps are carefully tested, inspected, and packaged to ensure safe
delivery and operation. Please examine your pump carefully to ensure that no
damage occurred during shipment. If damage has occurred, please contact the
place of purchase. They will assist you in replacement or repair, if required.
READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO
INSTALL, OPERATE, OR SERVICE YOUR Red Lion PUMP. KNOW THE
PUMP'S APPLICATION, LIMITATIONS, AND POTENTIAL HAZARDS.
PROTECT YOURSELF AND OTHERS BY OBSERVING ALL SAFETY
INFORMATION. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THESE INSTRUCTIONS
COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR PROPERTY DAMAGE!
SAFETY GUIDELINES
Do not use to pump flammable or explosive fluids such as gasoline, fuel
oil, kerosene, etc.
Do not use in explosive atmospheres. Pump should be used with liquids
compatible with pump component materials.
Do not handle the pump or charger/control unit with wet hands or when
standing on a wet or damp surface or in water.
To reduce the risk of electric shock, be certain that the DC control unit
is connected to an outlet protected by a ground fault circuit interrupter
(GFCI). Do not use the same 115 V outlet for the primary pump and DC
control unit. Do not use an extension cord.
In any installations where property damage and/or personal injury might
result from inoperative pumps or basin overflow due to power outages,
discharge line blockage, or any other reason, a backup system(s) and/or
alarm should be used.
The battery required to operate this unit contains acid and proper
precautions must be taken when handling. To prevent accidental shorting
across battery terminals, strap cover securely on battery box. Do not leave
battery uncovered.
Always make sure the control unit is unplugged prior to making
connections or disconnections to the battery. A spark near the battery may
cause battery explosion.
OPERATION
NOTE: The battery required for operation of this kit is not included. This
kit requires a good quality 12 Volt battery to gain maximum pumping
time during a power outage. A deep cycle, 12 Volt, 105 amp-hour marine
battery or larger is recommended. A battery of this size will provide
approximately 7 hours of operation in an installation with 8' of head
pressure. Maximum battery size that can fit in the supplied battery case
is 8" height X 7-1/2" width X 12-1/2" length.
The DC control unit is equipped with a 900 mA amp automatic charger
for maintaining the battery in a ready state, and recharging depends
upon the power drain during the AC power interruption. A completely
drained battery may require up to 150 hours for full recharge.
CHARGING A 12 V BATTERY
After connection to AC power and battery, the charger starts its 5-Stage
charging process, as described, in the following order:
STAGE ONE: PRE-QUALIFICATION TEST (BatteryTesting)
Yellow LED flashes for normally 45 seconds. If reverse battery
connections, wrong battery connected (24 V battery etc.), or batteries
with shorted cells are found, further testing stops and the red LED will
flash.

• BOMBA DE SUMIDERO
• POMPE DE VIDANGE
STAGE TWO: BULK-CHARGE CHARGING
Yellow LED illuminates continuously, indicating that the charger is
charging the battery at the full rated amps output. This stage ends when
the battery voltage reaches 14.4 Vdc.
STAGE THREE: EQUALIZATION-CHARGE CHARGING
Yellow LED illuminates continuously and regulates battery voltage to
approximately 14.4 Vdc till battery reaches full charge.
STAGE FOUR: FLOAT / MAINTENANCE
Green LED illuminates continuously. Charging is complete. The charger
maintains the battery at full charge by regulating the battery's voltage to
approximately 13.2 Vdc.
STAGE FIVE: RECYCLED CHARGE
This stage is an extension of Stage 4 and monitors the battery. If a load
(lamp or radio, etc.) is applied to the battery, OR if a minimum of 28 days
elapses, the charger resets itself automatically and begins a new charge
cycle, starting from Stage One.
WARNING: The backup pump relies on a sufficiently charged
battery to operate the pump. The charger is designed to charge the
battery and maintain charge level when the backup pump is not in
use. If battery voltage drops below 10 Volts, backup pump must be
disconnected from circuit for charger to recharge battery.
During charging or while maintaining battery, periodically (at least daily)
check on your charging system (just as you would with any electrical
appliance). Adverse AC line power surges, dips, and/or other conditions,
may affect the charger and require your attention. The battery and
battery connections need to be checked every three months. Handle
batteries carefully to avoid contact with acid. The back-up pump is
designed for handling clear water.
Do not use it in septic tanks to pump effluent or in sewage pits to
pump sewage.
Do not allow the pump to run dry (without liquid). Heat build up caused
by friction will damage the pump parts when run dry.
This unit is permanently lubricated. Oiling is not required.
Do not install or store the pump where it will be exposed to the weather
or to temperatures below freezing.
