This brace is single patient use only.
The braces are not designed to be worn while bathing.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FITTING
MIAMI TLSO BRACE (PTE) APPLICATION
1. Log roll the patient onto their side. Omit this step if fitting in standing
position. If standing, patient must stand with back straight and chest
out.
2. Position the posterior panel centered over the spine, with the bottom
of the posterior panel at approximately the sacrococcygeal joint
(Fig. 2).
3. Log roll the patient back into the supine position. Omit this step if
fitting in standing position.
4. Wrap the lumbar belt around the waist and through the Össur Fit Tool
(Fig. 3). Adjust the length of the belt arms to position tool centrally.
Secure the hook and loop tabs to desired sizing (Fig. 4).
5. Remove Össur Fit Tool from the belt.
Note: If an Össur Fit Tool is not available, use sizing guide (Fig. 5) to
estimate best patient fit based on waist circumference. Simply fold or
trim the belt arms at the suggested location. If the patient's waist
exceeds 50" (127 cm), an extension belt can be added to each belt arm
to reach a maximum belt circumference of 70" (178 cm).
6. Place belt ends into the Overlap Closures (Fig. 6). To obtain the
lowest profile fit, the belt arm ends can be trimmed if later
adjustments are not required.
Note: Once belt ends are secured in Overlap Closures, the Overlap
Closures will serve as belt ends.
Note: Panels can be customized by heat-molding, grinding, or
trimming, to achieve correct patient fit.
7. Close the belt arms around the waist.
8. Remove strap anchor from belt, place the shoulder straps over the
shoulder, and re-fasten the strap anchor onto the belt (Fig. 7).
Note: Place the strap anchor on a smooth area of the belt as posterior
to the patient as possible without introducing axilla discomfort.
9. Slide fingers through the holes in the two compression system
handles and pull until the belt is at the appropriate tightness (Fig. 8).
Adjust the compression system cord length if necessary. (Fig. 9)
10. If shoulder pad position needs to be improved, log roll the patient,
remove alligator tabs, trim straps, replace alligator tabs, and log roll
the patient back into the supine position.
11. Pull webbing to tighten shoulder straps.
12. Adjust the chest strap position by sliding the d-ring (Fig. 10).
13. Fasten chest buckle and tighten chest strap.
14. Upon sitting, standing or ambulation, the brace may require fine
tuning for comfort, fit and stabilization. This may include adjusting or
tightening straps, compression system, and/or rigid panels.
BRACE REMOVAL
1. Detach chest strap buckle
2. Detach compression system handles and loosen. Affix them onto the
belt after loosening.
3. Detach the overlap closure and remove brace.
4. Before reapplying the brace and to ensure a proper fit, be sure the
compression system is stretched to its full width by pulling the ends
of the belt apart.
