3.4 Residual pressure check
Turn the engine until it reaches normal temperature. Turn off the engine and check the pressure 3 times.
Excessive pressure drop
Repeat the test, turn off the engine and close the 3-way coupling valve
Pressure drop even greater
Repeat the test, turn off the engine and close the 3-way coupling valve
Pressure drop even greater
Repeat the test, cut off the engine by pinching the flexible hose between the tank and the pump
Pressure drop even greater
Pinch the hose between the accumulator and the pump
Pressure drop greater
Remove and test the injectors
4.
ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM
Set-up:
Check the electrical connections
4.1 Flow measurement
Uncouple the fuel inlet hose and put it in a
graduated recipient. Bridge the relay of the pump (20 A fuse) then measure
the quantity of fuel supplied in 1 minute. Compare this value with the
manufacturer data (minimum value: 1.5 to 2 litres) .
4.3 Circuit pressure check
Pressure too low
Pinch the fuel return pipe for 3 seconds
The pressure increases quickly
The pressure regulator is defective
4.4 Pressure regulator performance check
Connect all the electrical couplings, including the pump relay. Start the engine: the pressure should be 0.5 bar below the pressure indicated by the
manufacturer. By disconnecting the regulator pressure relief pipe then blocking it, the pressure should increase to that indicated by the manufacturer.
4.5 Residual pressure check
Restart, close the 3-way coupling valve and turn off the engine immediately
The pressure drops too fast.
The pump non-return valve is defective or there is a leak on
the fuel inlet valve
After testing, purge the circuit with the transparent flexible hose of the pressure gauge. Check connection and tightness of the pipes. Check

Record the pressure drop and compare it with the drop indicated by the manufacturer
Pressure drop correct
Pressure drop correct
The pressure no longer drops
The pressure no longer drops
Connect the fuel flexible hose (item f) and connect the tester as indicated in diagram 2
Start the engine. If the engine will not start, bridge the pump relay
Note the circuit pressure and compare it with the manufacturer data.
The pressure increases slowly
Fuel pipe or filter blocked
Defective pump or injector
Reconnect the regulator pressure relief pipe
Turn off the engine and read the value on the pressure gauge
The pressure drops by more than 0.5 bar in 1 minute
Restart, pinch the fuel return pipe and turn off the engine
The pressure drops by more than 0.5 bar in 1 min.
The injection system leaks (injector)
Check the pressure regulator isolation valve and the fuel distributor
Pressure regulator defective
Pump shutdown valve defective
Depressurizing: Remove the fuel pump fuse, start the engine and wait
until it stops.
4.2 Pump pressure check
coupling valve, record the pressure and compare it with the manufacturer
data. If the pressure is too low, the fuel pump is defective.
Pressure too high
Uncouple the fuel return and run it into a recipient
Pressure correct
Fuel pipe or filter blocked
Pressure drop correct
Open the 3-way coupling valve
immediately
Pressure drop correct
Pressure regulator defective
Correct pressure drop
End of test
"O" seals
Accumulator defective
For 3 seconds max. close the 3-way
Pressure too high
Pressure regulator defective
Pressure drop correct
End of test
