Rupture valves VP
Operative instructions
"Q" value in liters/minute represents the oil flow through the rupture valve. "Y" value represents how many mm. the
regulation screw has to lean out, once the regulation operation is complete. Operate as follows to adjust the rupture
valve/s:
a) find out the size of the valve/s to be calibrated by reading the valve label/s or by deducing it from the oil
inlet dimension:
Oil Inlet
End
fitting
diameter [mm]
R = 1" 1/4 35
R = 1" 1/2 42
R = 2"
2"
2 x 42
b) find out the flow rate in l/min. of the pump assembled on the installation, which the nominal speed
depends on.
c) calculate the value "Q" in l/min., able to increase the downward speed by about 30% compared to the
nominal speed (according to EN 81.2:1998, point 12.5.5.1, EN81-20:2014, point 5.6.3.1, and EN81-50:2014
point 5.9.1.5.1. Practically the maximum increase of speed is +0,3 m/s for applications with maximum
admitted speed of 1 m/s). Multiply by 1,3 the pump flow rate for installations with one cylinder. Multiply
by 1,3 half the pump flow rate for installations with two cylinders.
d) Find out value "Y" in the diagram of table 3,1. This value corresponds to the "Q" flow rate, previously
calculated. Position the regulation screw at the value "Y", as shown in the drawing.
Example:
n.1 Rupture valve VP114
n.1 Pump 100 l/min
Q = 100 x 1,3 = 130 l/min
Y = 30 mm
