GENERAL PRODUCT SAFETY INFORMATION
WARNING MAXIMUM SURFACE TEMPERATURE LIMITS.
Maximum surface temperature depends on the operating
conditions of fluid heater. Do not exceed maximum tem-
perature limits as noted on page PTL-1 / PTL-2.
This fluid heater has a surface temperature identification code
of T3. This indicates a maximum external surface temperature
rating of 392° F (200° C).
Maximum temperatures are based on mechanical stress only.
Certain chemicals will significantly reduce maximum safe op-
erating temperature. Consult the chemical manufacturer for
chemical compatibility and temperature limits.
WARNING EXCESSIVE MATERIAL PRESSURE. Thermal ex-
pansion will occur when fluid in material lines is exposed
to elevated temperatures and will cause a system rupture.
Install a pressure relief valve in the pumping system.
WARNING INJECTION HAZARD. Any material injected into
flesh can cause severe injury or death. If an injection occurs
immediately contact a doctor.
Do not grab front end of dispensing device.
Do not aim dispensing device at anyone or any part of the body.
WARNING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. Can cause serious in-
jury or property damage. Do not attempt to return a pump
to the factory or service center that contains hazardous
material. Safe handling practices must comply with local
and national laws and safety code requirements.
Obtain Material Safety Data Sheets on all materials from the
supplier for proper handling instructions.
CAUTION Do not remove cover to electrical wiring when
heater is energized. Disconnect electrical power before re-
moving cover for servicing heater.
CAUTION Power should never be on when there is only
solvent in the system. Solvents can expand if there is no
circulation, causing excessive and hazardous pressure in
the system.
GENERAL INFORMATION / FLUID HEATER
CAUTION Protect the heater from external damage and
do not use the heater for the structural support of the pip-
ing system. Be certain the system components are properly
supported to prevent stress on the heater parts. Be certain
the mounting surface can support the weight of the heater
and fluid.
Suction and discharge connections should be flexible connec-
tions (such as hose), not rigid piped, and should be compatible
with the substance being pumped.
CAUTION Prevent unnecessary damage to the heater. Do
not allow heater to operate when out of material for long
periods of time.
Disconnect power supply from heater when system sits idle for
long periods of time.
CAUTION Verify the chemical compatibility of the heater
wetted parts and substance being pumped, flushed or re-
circulated.
Chemical compatibility may change with temperature and
concentration of the chemical(s) within the substances being
pumped, flushed or circulated. For specific fluid compatibility
consult the chemical manufacture.
CAUTION The fluid heater must be installed by a qualified
electrician in compliance with all national, state, and local
codes and regulations to reduce risk of electrical shock or
other serious injury during installation and operation.
CAUTION Be certain all operators of this equipment have
been trained for safe working practices, understand its lim-
its, and wear safety goggles / equipment when required.
