TRANSPORT AND STORAGE
Store in a dry place, do not remove product from box during
storage.
Do not remove protection caps from inlet and outlet prior to
installation.
Do not drop or damage box, handle with care.
INSTALLATION
This fluid heater has a surface temperature identification code
of T3, indicating a maximum external surface temperature rat-
ing of 392° F (200° C) in accordance with Article 500 (Hazardous
Locations) of N.F.P.A. 70 National Electrical Code and / or Sec-
tion 18 (Hazardous Locations) of part 1 of the Canadian Electri-
cal Code. See and comply with the requirements of these and
other national and local codes as to the proper location of the
heater.
The fluid heater has been tested in a water solution. Some of
this fluid may be left within the heater, therefore, flush out
this fluid with a solvent compatible with the material to be
pumped.
Mount the heater as required for the application. (For example:
wall mount, cart mount, etc.)
If the heater isto be used in a mobile installation, be sure the
truck, trailer, etc. is grounded to a true earth ground.
The heater should be installed with the inlet at the bottom to
minimize the chances of trapped air inside the fluid heater.
MAINTENANCE
CAUTION Shut the electrical supply off and relieve all
pressure from the system before servicing any part of the
fluid heater system.
Before flushing, circulate the fluid through the system for at least
10 minutes to cool the fluid and the heater. This will reduce the
risk of injury from burns.
Do not allow material to solidify inside the fluid heater. Clogged
fluid passages reduce the heating efficiency, flow rate and
pressure. The fluid track cannot be disassembled for cleaning.
Flush the fluid heater with the proper solvent immediately fol-
lowing each use.
Flush the fluid heater with a solvent compatible
NOTICE
with the material to be pumped.
The fluid heater should be flushed with solvent when changing

PLACING INTO SERVICE
START-UP
1.
Fill the system with fluid.
2.
Circulate the fluid through the system.
3.
Turn the power on.
4.
Set the thermostat just below the boiling point of the lowest
boiling solvent in the coating material (see table, page 52).
NOTE: Higher than necessary temperatures cause the fluid to
dry out, resulting in a poor finish and clogged heater.
5.
Allow the fluid to circulate through the heater for 5- 10 min-
utes.
6.
Readjust the thermostat as necessary.
To adjust the temperature, turn the knob:
a. Clockwise - higher temperature
b. Counterclockwise - lower temperature.
SHUTDOWN
Allow the fluid to circulate for 5- 10 minutes after shutting the
heater off, to cool the system.
Always leave the solvent or fluid in the heater.
Keep good records of service activity and include pump in pre-
ventive maintenance program.
