1. INTRODUCTION.
Especially devised for carburettor cars Bristol ECU with car-
burettor fill up is placed on the car dashboard in a stylish
way. It's available in the versions with level gauge or with
reserve LED only.
2. BRISTOL ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT FUNCTIONS.
Bristol ECU carries out the following functions:
2.1. Working on petrol.
With the change-over switch on petrol position, the petrol
solenoid valve is fed and contemporarily the Led on the front
of the ECU turns red.

2.2. Working on gas.
With the change-over switch on gas position, the gas solenoid
valves will be excited for a few seconds and contemporarily
the Led on the front of the ECU turns green. This procedure
provides automatically the "primer" and fosters the ignition.
If the starting is effectued before the "primer" ends, the fee-
ding of the gas solenoid valves will continue, otherwise it will
cease. It will start again when the engine comes again into
operation.
In case of accidental stop of the engine Bristol, ECU closes
the gas solenoid valves in order to avoid any possible gas
leaks (this function is also called "safety-car").
2.3. Petrol - gas change-over.
Bristol ECU carries out the passage from petrol to gas feeding
without risks of flooding. This because, with the change-over
key in the central position, all the solenoid valves contempora-
rily close. When the carburettor is empty, it will be sufficient to
turn the change-over switch to "gas" position.
2.4. Gas - petrol change-over.
Bristol ECU allows the change from gas to petrol continuosly:
by turning the change-over switch to the central position, all
the solenoid valves contemporarily open in order to fill up the
carburettor before stopping the gas feeding. As soon as the
refilling is completed, it will be sufficient to turn the change-
over switch to the "petrol" position obtaining the closing of
the gas solenoid valves.
2.5. Reserve gauge.
Bristol ECU is equipped with a LED which can be used as
reserve gauge if paired with one of BRC sensors.

the codes of BRC reserve sensors.
2.6. Level gauge.
Bristol is available in two models with level indicator working
with either type Hall or resistive level sensor.
Refer to BRC general catalogue and/or updated price-list for
the codes of BRC level sensors.
3. INSTALLATION AND ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS.
Bristol ECU must be placed using the screws supplied, in a
visible place, easy to reach and to see by the driver.
Regulations are not necessary. Do not open the ECU otherwise
you will lose the warranty.
The electrical connections to make are the following:

NOTES:
A. The Grey cable can be indifferently connected:
- to the negative of the ignition coil,
- to the square wave signals traceable between the original car
ignition ECU and the power module (if with a sufficient ampli-
tude) or to the engine speed indicator,
- on the high tension cables by winding it in coils and using
compulsorily the supplied reel (see the following plan and
instructions).
B. Bristol ECU is completely compatible with the previous
BRAVO one. In case a remplacement is necessary, Bristol
ECU will be inserted, after having removed the BRAVO,
without changing any electrical connection.
C. Bristol ECU is protected against reversals of polarity and
also against the connection mistake caused by swapping posi-
tive and negative of the coil. In this last case, the car does not
work neither with petrol nor with gas: we suggest that you do
not persist with the starting and check the connections.
4. ADJUSTMENTS.
4.1. Level gauge adjustment.
Mount the sensor with its cable following the instructions sup-
plied with the sensor. Normally this sensor is already adjusted.
In case of necessity, it is possible to refine the adjustment of
reserve only in the following way:
a - feed Bristol ECU by turning the key;
b - with the tank empty, turn slowly the reserve trimmer until
the first green LED blinks for a short time.
No setting for 4/4 threshold with full tank is expected.
Use of the reel.
Divide the reel in two parts and place it on the High Tension
cable. Insert the grey cable in the notching as indicated in the
picture n.1. Wind carefully the cable on the reel without supe-
rimposing the coils and fix the cable on the other extremity by
inserting it in the proper notching. Cut out the exceeding cable
(picture n. 2).
Cover with electric tape and pay attention that the grey cable,
going towards the Bristol ECU, is separated from the high
tension one (picture n.3).
