Make sure that no people are to be found in the
testing area; unlock the column through the
pedal; rotate the viewer towards the bottom and
turn it on.
Search for two details at the front of the vehicle
- for example, the two headlights -; rotate the
optical chamber until the two reference points
match the line projected by the viewer, and lock
the column.
CAUTION!
Turn the laser off immediately before
moving to the next headlight
inspection and adjustment operations.
The laser line belongs to class 3A, with a
wavelength of 650 nm (nanometers) and a
power of 3 mW (milliwatts), for which direct
observation of the beam with magnifying
observation optics - e.g. binoculars - may prove
hazardous. Accidental exposure is not
considered dangerous, since, because the
visible is involved, palpebral reflexes prevent
exposure from exceeding 0.25 sec.
HEADLIGHT TEST
ADJUSTMENT
In the upper part of the headlight read the
angle recommended by the manufacturer - e.g.
1.2% -; rotate the roller at the rear of the optical
chamber accordingly.
If no angle should be recommended by the
manufacturer, stick to current provisions.
CAUTION!
It should be emphasized that the
headlight angle should comply with
current provisions anyway; under
current provisions the angle for dipped
headlights at heights up to 80 cm from the
ground must be at least 1%.
The angle for dipped headlights at heights
exceeding 80 cm from the ground must be at
least 1.5%.
DIPPED HEADLIGHT TEST
On the inspection panel check whether the
headlight projection position is aligned with the
screen-printed line; press the switch with the
dipped headlight symbol and read the value on
the instrument.
FULL HEADLIGHT TEST
On the inspection panel check whether the full
headlight projection position is aligned with the
screen-printed line; press the switch with the
full headlight symbol and read the value on the
instrument.
FOG LIGHT TEST
On the inspection panel check whether the fog
light projection position is aligned with the
screen-printed line; press the switch with the
dipped headlight symbol and read the value on
the screen.
