Bleeding the brakes

Bleeding the brakes consists of letting a small
amount of fluid flow from the system, letting the air
leave the circuit. When air is present in the
system, the brakes cannot operate as expected,
so this procedure is extremely important.
IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS BEFORE
BEGINNING THE PROCEDURE:
- Place the machine on a flat locations;
- Start bleeding the brakes on the wheel furthest
from the pump;
- Use a piece of plastic hose on hand (about 50 cm
long), the diameter must correspond to the
bleeding nozzle and a clean jar with a little bit of
new brake fluid.
BLEEDING PROCEDURES
fig.72
1- Locate the bleeding screw on the brake
calipers (fig.72);
2- Remove the rubber protection on the bleeder
(fig.72);
fig.73
3- Insert the hose on the bleeder nozzle and
place the other end bathing in the jar with a little
clean brake fluid. This facilitates viewing the air
bubbles leaving the hose as well as helps to
avoid dirt (fig.73);
4- Request a second person to open the pump
lever several repeated times;
5- Using a open-end or box wrench, open the
bleeder.
The air present in the system will be expelled.
See the formation of air bubbles in the fluid In the
jar.
Bleeding is concluded when bubbles stop
forming in the brake fluid. If necessary repeat the
process until the bubbles stop appearing.
6- Close the bleeder, remove the hose, and put
the rubber protection back on;
7- Repeat the procedure on the other wheel.
After concluding the bleeding on both wheels,
pour the fluid through the existing hole of the
pump.
