Set Sample Flow
After configuring the Setpoints, proper operational flow can be established (20 mL/min ±5%). This step
must be completed to assure accurate TOC measurements are reported. At the M300 TOC, press the Menu
key, select the Set Flow menu option, and change Set Flow to 'Yes'. The four sensor LED lights on the
4000TOC provide an indication of flow through the TOC sensor. All four LEDs will be lit when the flow rate is
set properly. Turn the adjustment knob clockwise to decrease flow, or counterclockwise slowly to increase
flow, until all four LED's are illuminated.
Once the flow rate is set and all four LED's are lit, return Set Flow to Off. The front-panel LEDs will revert to
their normal function.
UV Lamp
Once flow has been established and the flow rate is properly set, the 4000TOC is ready to begin taking TOC
measurements. If sensor activation is desired at this time, set the UV Lamp to On. Allow approximately one
minute for readings to begin. Additional time (approximately 4-24 hours) may be necessary for the rea-
dings to stabilize as the sample line rinses clean, and the TOC sensor reaches thermal stability.
Auto Start
The 4000TOC sensor can be configured such that the UV lamp will automatically turn on after recovering
from a power loss or fault condition. If automatic recovery is desired, set the Auto Start option to 'Yes'.
It is recommended that Auto Start be set to 'Yes'. The default setting is 'No'.
