REPAIR
Despite the durability of this product, occasionally accidents happen. This product includes a repair kit
with some matching repair materials to help. If you should need additional repair materials or advice,
check with your distributor or on our website, Aquaglide.com for guidance.
This Product is made by RF welding a laminate made of nylon and TPU. Very important to repair using
the same materials.
Self-Adhesive TPU Patch (i.e. Tear-Aid – Type A - NOT included) – Ideal for emergencies and field
repairs.
1. With leak located, clean patch area. MEK solvent is best, but alcohol medical wipes also work. Dry
completely.
2. Cut Tear-Aid - Type A patch using sharp scissors. Round corners slightly (approximately ¼" radius).
Patch should cover 1" (2.5cm) outside leak in all directions.
3. Peel back paper backing to expose a section of adhesive. Align patch and apply pressure to stick
in place. Peel back remaining backing. Avoid trapping air bubbles under patch. Rub firmly from center
toward outer edges of patch. Press all sections firmly.
TPU/ Nylon with Glue – Ideal for Ultralight TPU hull repairs. NOTE: Repair kit includes proper material,
but requires urethane-based adhesive, not included. Examples: Aquaseal+FD, HH-66.
1. Deflate the product. Arrange the work surface so that the repair area is most accessible.
2. Cut matching patch material to size using sharp scissors or razor knife. Round corners slightly
(approximately ¼" radius). Patch should cover 1" (2.5cm) outside leak in all directions.
3. Clean with solvent a little beyond the gluing area. MEK solvent is best, but an alcohol medical wipe
also works. Also clean back of the patch material. Dry completely.
4. Dry fit patch and use pen or pencil to outline where it will be located.
5. Use disposable brush or cardboard to apply a thin, even layer of urethane-based adhesive to repair
area. Glue only within outline.
6. Apply adhesive to back of patch making sure to cover the area completely.
7. Allow glue to cure briefly (30 - 60 seconds) – just until the surface glazes slightly.
8. Repeat 5-7 to add a second coat of glue in the same way.
9. Align patch over repair area using the outline as a guide. Once the 2 surfaces touch, bond will be
immediate. Carefully apply patch, starting at one corner and working outward.
10. Use very firm pressure to rub patch for at least 1-2 minutes.
11. Allow to cure for 2 hours minimum, 12 hours for full strength.
