6. Trim rejacketing tubes.
Allow the tubes to cool enough to touch. Trim excess tubing from the end of
each phase.
7. Trim ground wire(s).
If cable has ground wire(s), trim to ground connection point--36" (915mm)
maximum.
If lug is to be installed, go to Step 8.
If no lug is to be installed on the end of the ground wire(s), solder block the
strands 3" (75mm) from the end of the wire to make a moisture block.
When solder is cool, wrap one turn of red sealant around the moisture block.
Go to Step 8.
8. Install tubing on ground wire.
Cut a 4" (100mm) piece of tubing from each of the small diameter ground
wire rejacketing tubings. Set aside for use as a lug seal.
Install a length of ground tubing over each ground wire. Shrink wire
jacketing tubing over the ground(s). Start at the cable jacket end and work
towards the end of the wire.
9. Install lug(s) on ground wire(s).
If no lug or ground wires are to be installed, go to Step 11.
If installing lugs on ground wires, cut back the ground rejacketing tube
to the length of the lug barrel +1/4" (5mm) .
Install the lug.
Wrap one layer of red sealant to overlap lug barrel and rejacketing tube.
