1. Raise the mower
Note: The cutting height settings are 1 inch (25 mm);
1-1/2 inch (38 mm); 2 inches (51 mm); 2-1/2 inches
(64 mm); 3 inches (76 mm); 3-1/2 inches (89 mm); and
4 inches (102 mm).
Starting the Engine
Pull recoil start handle (Figure 9).
Note: If the mower does not start after several
attempts, contact an Authorized Service Dealer.
Using the Self-propel Drive
To operate the self-propel drive, squeeze the self-propel
drive bar (Figure 10) toward the handle and hold it.

To disengage the self-propel drive, release the self-propel
drive bar.
Note: The maximum self-propel ground speed is fixed.
To reduce the ground speed, increase the space between
the self-propel drive bar and the handle.
Stopping the Engine
Service Interval: Before each use or daily
Hold down the kill switch (Figure 5) in the Stop position
until the engine stops.
Engaging the Blade
Note: When you start your engine, the blade does not
turn. You must engage the blade to mow.
Press the blade control bar lock and pull the blade
control bar back to the handle (Figure 11).
1. Press the blade control
bar lock.
Disengaging the Blade
Release the blade control bar.
Important: When you release the blade control
bar, the blade should stop within 3 seconds. If
it does not stop properly, stop using your mower
immediately and contact an Authorized Service
Dealer.
Checking the Blade Stop
System Operation
Check the control bar before each use to ensure that the
blade stop system is operating properly.
