Battery Removal
1. Remove the left side cover (page 31).
2. Remove the bolt (1) and open the battery holder (2).
3. Disconnect the negative (–) terminal lead (3) from
the battery first, then disconnect the positive (+)
terminal lead (4).
4. Remove the battery (5) from its compartment.

Stoplight Switch

(Refer to "Maintenance Precautions" on page 42.)
Check the operation of the stoplight switch (1)
periodically. The switch is located on the right side
behind the engine.
NOTE
Adjust the rear brake pedal free play (page 19) before
adjusting the stoplight switch.
The switch should be adjusted so the stoplight is on
when the brake pedal is applied.
1. Turn the ignition switch on.
2. Turn the adjusting nut (2) as necessary if the switch
operates too late or too soon.
