OPERATION
The appliance can be used both for boiling food and for heating water and other
liquids.
General
•
This appliance can be used for multiple purposes: preserving, cooking,
warming up in water, preparation of hot beverages, blanching vegetables, etc.
Always slowly warm up and constantly stir any food that is viscous and may
easily be burnt. If your appliance should be cooking even when it is empty, an
additional safety device to avoid drying out will prevent the appliance from
overheating.
•
Allow the appliance to thoroughly cool down before you refill it with water so
as to avoid burns due to hot steam and to protect the enamel surface from
damages.
•
When using for the first time, an odor might be produced, which however will
disappear in the short run.
Volume
The preserver has a volume of 27 liters. However, be sure to never fill it up higher
than 4 cm (1.6 in.) below its upper casing rim.
Important Hints
•
Due to hygienic reasons, be sure to boil or sterilize once the appliance.
•
Be sure to completely unwind the appliance's power cable and to connect it to
a grounded socket.
Preserving
•
Preserving is to preserve food without any chemical additives. The heat
generated kills off any germs in the preserving food. At the same time, the
bottling jar will be sealed in a germfree and airtight manner due to the
vacuum produced.
•
Use sterilizing or pasteurizing depending on the sort and mass of the food to
be preserved. For sterilizing, allow the food to be preserved to heat up to at
least 100 degrees C (212°F). To pasteurize, heat it up to 80 degrees C (176°F).
Pasteurizing is sufficient if the appliance is used in the household. Please use
relevant bottling jars with screw caps or locking caps with rubber seal rings.
