3.6 Op er at ing the Yanmar en gine
Never use cold start aids such as petrol, thin ners, liq -
ue fied gas or vol a tile flu ids. These can se verely dam -
age the en gine.
Important
When start ing the en gine, the con trol le ver and vi bra -
tion le ver must be at «0».
3.6.1 Start ing the en gine
• Set the fuel valve (1) to «O» (open).

• Set the RPM le ver (2) to «RUN» (full throt tle).
• In sert the ig ni tion key (3) and turn it to «I». The charge in di ca -
tor (4) and oil pres sure gauge (5) must light up.
• Turn the ig ni tion key to «II». As soon as the en gine starts up,
let go of the ig ni tion key
• The charge in di ca tor and oil pres sure light must go off right af -
ter start.
Af ter start-up fails:
• Be fore each new at tempt at start ing

• Turn the ig ni tion key back to «0».
• Let the en gine run down to a full stop. Ac ti vat ing the starter
when the en gine is run ning can dam age the starter and fly -
wheel.
• Wait at least two min utes. This al lows the bat tery volt age to
re charge. It pre vents the starter from be ing dam aged when
the bat tery volt age is too low.
3.6.2 Af ter the en gine starts
1 – 2 min.

• Set the RPM le ver (2) to idle «MIN».
• En gine in idle 1 ... Al low 2 min. to warm up.
