This operator manual is intended for the operator of this
converter.
This operator manual belongs with

the converter. A copy should be
kept with the converter at all times.
In the event of the converter being transferred, all
documentation must be transferred with the converter.

liable for any accidents or damages resulting from the
failure to comply with warnings or instructions depicted
on this converter or contained in this operator manual,

a) Alterations to the control system

interruptions, delays, etc.).
SAFETY
This converter has been designed for safe use in
conformance with the application, conditions and rules
described in this operator manual. Anyone that works with
or on this converter must read the operator manual and
follow the instructions carefully.
Operators
Only those who read and understand the Sections "Safety"
and "Operator Instructions" should operate the converter.
Special training is not required.
Operator tasks include:
•
Loading and feeding the paper bundles
•
Operating the converter
•
Weekly maintenance (see section 3.8)

Remove paper scraps
◦
Remove excessive paper dust
Service technicians
Only service technicians employed by Ranpak or a Ranpak
distributor who are in possession of a certificate issued
by Ranpak service department are permitted to conduct
service on the converter. For these individuals, a separate
service manual is available.

Rules of Safety
•
Safety devices are not allowed to be switched off or
removed
•
The emergency stop must always be in reach of the
operator (if applicable)
•
Do not remove or cover warning labels
•
Do not reach inside the converter
•
Keep the working area clean and free of obstacles
•
Unplug converter and gather all loose cords before
moving the converter
•
Pay attention when using hand tools such as knives,
scissors etc, due to the risk of cutting
•
Ensure that:
◦
cords cannot be damaged
◦
the converter is acclimatised when taken from a
cold to a warm area.
◦
the working area is sufficiently lit
◦
the working area is sufficiently ventilated
•
Do not use cable reels. When using an extension
cable, note that the diameter must be at least 1,5 mm2
(14AWG) with a maximum length of 10 m (33 ft.)
•
Plug the converter always into a grounding-type wall
socket
•
Pay attention to ergonomic factors such as lifting,
bending, reaching, etc. during work on the converter
•
Prolonged exposure to max sound level may require
the use of personal hearing protection.
Improper Use
The following applications or acts are not suitable for the
converter, and constitute improper use of the converter:
•
Use of materials other than those produced by Ranpak
and intended for use in the converter
•
Use outside or in a humid area
•
Use in areas subject to an explosion hazard
•
Washing or cleaning the converter with excessive
quantities of water
•
Standing on the converter or hanging from it
•
Placing objects against or on top of the converter
•
Moving the converter while it is functioning or connected
to the AC power supply.
Work Area
In order to operate the converter, you need a 1 meter (3
foot) wide, open work area in front of the converter. From
this space, all operating actions can be carried out.
Constructive Safety Provision
Emergency Stop
In order to stop the converter in an emergency situation,
the converter is equipped with an Emergency Stop button.
The Emergency Stop button is the red button at the front
panel of the converter, which will immediately stop the
converter when pressed.
Once pressed, the Emergency Stop button blocks the
operation of the converter and will cause a red light on the
converter to light up. The converter cannot be restarted
until the Emergency Stop button is released. To release
the Emergency Stop button, twist the red knob.
