1. Place a new probe cover on the sensor firmly; making sure the
probe and the inner portion of the probe cover fit snugly. To ensure
proper hygiene and to avoid contamination, a new probe cover
should be applied for each user. If the probe cover is in good
condition, it may be used several times by the same individual.
2. Press the On/Off Button or the Test Button. The LCD screen will
appear as shown in Figure 2 (Note: The last recorded temperature
reading will be present.) Wait for screen to change to setting shown
in Figure 3. The thermometer is now ready for a new measurement.
If there is an extraordinary, the Er1 or Er2 appears.
3.Place the probe snugly into the ear canal. Make sure the probe tip
faces the eardrum as depicted in Figure 4. Press the Test Button. A
long beep will sound approximately 2 seconds after the Test Button is
activated. This signals the end of the process as results are displayed
on the LCD screen.
4.The thermometer is ready for testing again once an ear mark displays
on the LCD. A waiting period of 20 seconds between testing is
recommended to ensure complete accuracy.
5.The thermometer will shut off automatically after 60 seconds of
inactivity. To prolong battery life, press the On/Off Button to turn
the unit off.
Temperature Taking Hints
1. Temperatures of two eardrums may slightly differ. Always
test the same ear drum when comparing results.
2. External factors may influence ear temperatures such as:
ˇ Lying on one ear or the other
ˇ Having one or both ears covered
ˇ Exposed to very hot or cold temperatures
ˇ Recent swimming or bathingUnder these circumstances, remain in
the testing environment for 20 minutes or longer prior to
temperature taking.
3. The ear must be free from obstructions such as excess earwax.
