Protector Position and Fit:
Impact protector fit is very important. The fit of different impact protector styles varies due
to differences in design and construction. Only use impact protectors that fit properly. Any
impact protector that does not fit properly should not be used. For impact protectors to offer the
maximum protection possible they must be placed on the area to be protected and they must
cover the protected area effectively. If the impact protectors are already incorporated into the a
suit, jacket, or shirt and are fitted to it by means of stitching or zippers, or are placed in special
pockets, then for them to be positioned correctly, the impact protectors must be the correct size.
If the protectors come with independent supports, and are not incorporated into a garment, then
to be positioned correctly, the shape of the protectors and the shape of the protected areas have
to fit together well. In all cases, the proper equipment has been supplied to keep these impact
protectors firmly in contact with the body. The protectors must be worn under the rider's clothing
to guarantee they remain in place, covering the protected area. Always be sure that the impact
protectors fit snugly but not too tightly. Confirm adjustment straps have the length necessary to
tighten and loosen, assuring correct fit.

strap in any other location. Be sure to leave enough of the hook and loop fastener to assure
