Safety instructions
Please read the user instructions before using the helmet Check that the front cover lens, the head
band and the shade cartridge have been correctly fitted The welding helmet must not be used if faults
cannot be remedied
Warnings & safety restrictions
Heat and radiation that can cause eye and skin injuries are emitted during the welding process This product
provides eye and face protection Your eyes are always protected from ultraviolet and infrared radiation
when your are wearing the helmet, irrespective of the shade level Appropriate additional safety clothing
must be worn to protect the rest of the body Some people may suffer allergic reactions to particles and
substances that are released during the welding process Materials that come into contact with skin may
cause allergic reactions to susceptible persons
The welding helmet may only be used for welding, and for no other purpose The manufacturer will not accept
any liability if the welding helmet is used for any other purpose or the user instructions are disregarded
The helmet is suitable for all of established welding procedures except for gas and laser welding Please
pay attention to the shade level recommendation in accordance with EN169 on the envelope The welding
helmet may not be used for overhead welding, since there is a risk of injury from falling molten metal
Warranty & Liability
The warranty conditions can be found in the instructions from the national sales organisation Please
contact your dealer for further information concerning this matter
The warranty only applies to material and manufacturing defects In the event of damage caused by
improper use, unauthorised intervention or use for a purpose that is not intended by the manufacturer,
the warranty and liability will be null and void Likewise, liability and the warranty are no longer valid if
other than original spare parts are used
Sleep mode
The shade cartridge has an automatic switch-off function that increases the service life of the batteries
If no light falls on the solar cells for about 15 minutes, the shade cartridge automatically switches off The
solar cells must be briefly exposed to daylight to switch the cartridge back on again
If the shade cartridge cannot be reactivated or does not darken when the welding arc is ignited, the
batteries must be replaced
Usage (see envelope)
1 Head band. Please adjust the upper adjusting strap (1) to your head size Depress ratchet knob (2)
and rotate until the head band sits firmly yet comfortably
2 Eye distance and helmet inclination. The distance between the cartridge and the eyes is adjusted
by releasing the locking knobs (3) Adjust to the same extent at both sides without jamming Then
retighten the locking knobs The helmet inclination can be adjusted using the rotary knob (4)
3 Shade level. The shade level can be selected between DIN 9 and DIN 13 by rotating the shade level
knob (5)
4 Sensitivity. The level of sensitivity to ambient light can be adjusted using the sensitivity knob (6)
The middle position corresponds to the recommended sensitivity setting in a standard situation
5 Opening delay. The opening delay knob (7) allows the opening delay to be set continously from
dark to light It is adjustable within a range of 0,25 to 0,7 seconds The middle position corresponds
to the recommended delay in a standard situation
Cleaning
The shade cartridge and the front cover lens must be cleaned with a soft cloth at regular intervals No
strong cleaning agents, solvents, alcohol or cleaning agents containing scouring agent must be used
Scratched or damaged lenses must be replaced
Storage
The welding helmet must be stored at room temperature and with low air humidity Storing the helmet in
the original packaging will increase the service life of the batteries
Replacing the front cover lens (see envelope)
1 Hold the wing of the front cover lens (16)
2 Push the lens against the opposite side of the holding frame (17)
3 Remove the lens sidewards
4 Hold the wing of the new front cover lens
5 Push the lens against the opposite side of the holding frame (18)
6 Insert the lens into the holder (19)
Replacing the batteries (see envelope)
The shade cartridge has replaceable lithium button cell batteries, type CR2032 The batteries must be
replaced when the LED on the cartridge (8) flashes in green
1 Carefully remove battery cover (9)
2 Remove batteries and dispose of in accordance with the national regulations for special waste (10)
3 Use type CR2032 batteries as depicted (11)
4 Carefully remount battery cover (12)
If the shade cartridge does not darken when the welding arc is ignited, please check battery polarity
To check whether the batteries still have sufficient power, hold the shade cartridge against a bright
lamp If the green LED flashes, the batteries are empty and must be replaced immediately If the shade
cartridge does not operate correctly in spite of correct battery replacement, it must be declared unusable
and must be replaced
Removing / installing the shade cartridge (see envelope)
1 Remove potentiometer knob as depicted and undo nut (13)
2 Release cartridge retaining spring as shown (14)
3 Carefully tip out the cartridge (15)
The shade cartridge is installed in the reverse order
Troubleshooting
Shade cartridge does not darken
→ Adjust sensitivity (6)
→ Clean sensors and front cover lens
→ Check flow of light to the sensors
→ Replace batteries
Shade cartridge flickers
→ Adjust sensitivity (6)
→ Adjust opening delay (7)
→ Replace batteries
Poor vision
→ Clean front cover lens and shade cartridge
→ Adapt shade level to welding procedure
→ Increase amount of ambient light
