Units can be up to 1.5 km from the 4 door DGP or control
panel, depending on the cable used. Recommended
WCAT52/54; 2-pair twisted, shielded, data cable.
Connections J2 loop start and J3 loop end
J2, LOOP START: Primary side
J3, LOOP END: Secondary side
+12, 0 V: 12 V DC supply output.
D+, D−: Positive and negative data connection of the RS485
databus.
Units can be up to 1.5 km from the 4-door DGP or control
panel, depending on the cable used. Recommended
WCAT52/54; 2-pair twisted, shielded, data cable.

Connections J4 Fault
Faults: Fault condition indicated by relay contacts.
- NC: Normally closed contact.
- C: Closed contact.
- NO: Normally open contact.
N/O-4k7: When removed, a 4.7 kΩ resistance is placed in
series with the N/C contact.
N/C-4k7: When fitted a 4.7 kΩ resistance is placed in parallel
with the N/C contact.
A fault is registered when data returning to the loop end
connections is different from the data sent out through the loop
start connection.
In this case the ATS control panel can detect which, if any,
peripherals connected to the loop have failed. See ATS control
panel installation guide and "Interfacing databus loop fault
relay to the ATS control panel" below. If a databus fault occurs,
the fault relay will be energized on the ATS1742 board, which
can be use to generate an alarm or other pre-programmed
response. Checks are performed every 2 minutes to determine
the loop's state. Once the loop fault is corrected, the relay will
be de-energized after a period of 1.5 to 2 minutes and all
internal processes will be reset to pre-fault conditions.
Interfacing databus loop fault relay to the
ATS control panel
On the ATS 1742, insert N/O and remove N/C.
Connect the NC and C relay output pins to a physical input on
the ATS control panel
Note:
If a dry contact is required for some other application,
insert N/O and remove N/C. A changeover contact is available
on pins NC, C and NO.
To diagnose fault conditions on the databus
loop
Check the devices being polled on the loop in ATS control
panel installer menu 3 (DGP database).
Check for poll errors for each of the active devices in ATS
Control panel installer menu 23.
If zero errors were recorded before the LAN fault, e.g. a cut
cable, each device that stopped polling will have registered 7
2 / 16
poll errors. Each device that remained in the normal polling
cycle will continue to record zero poll errors.

diagram
"TERM" links must be fitted to Term (2 and 3) on the ATS1742
board. Remove all "TERM" links on DGPs and RASs
connected to the local databus loop.
Recommended cable for ATS control panel LAN is
WCAT52/54 – 2 pair twisted shielded data cable.
The shield of each length of data cable is only connected to
earth at one end.
The earth terminals on every piece of equipment in the system
that is housed in a metal base, must be earthed by connecting
them all to one common earth point via separate earth wire
running with the databus cable/s back to the ATS control
panel.
