System connection (Fig. 1)
Connect the red battery terminal with (5) the plus (+) pole of the battery.
Connect the black battery terminals (4) with the minus (-) pole of the battery.
Then perform a self-test of the system.
Press the rocker switch (2) forward (+). The LED (1) now should be red.
Press the rocker switch backward (-). The LED now should be green.
The system is now operational.
If the LED does not light up, press the reset switch (6) and repeat the self-test.
Polarity check (Fig. 2)
If the probe tip touches positive voltage, the LED lights up red.
If the probe tip touches negative voltage, the LED lights up green.
If no electrical potential is present, the LED does not light up.
Continuity test (Fig. 3)
To test a component (relay, cable, switch, device, etc.), the component must be disconnected from the vehicle's electrical system.
10
Now check the component with the negative auxiliary clamp (3) and the probe tip.
The continuity is confi rmed by a green LED.
Function testing of deinstalled components. (Fig. 4)
When the voltage tester is used in combination with an auxiliary ground cable, voltage may be applied to the components and
their function can be tested.
Connect the negative auxiliary clamp to the negative contact of the component to be tested.
Move the test probe to the positive contact on the component.
The LED lights up GREEN and signals the continuity of the component.
Press the rocker switch forward (+). The component is triggered and the LED lights up red.
When the green LED goes out or the safety switch is triggered, the system is overloaded. This may have several causes:
The contact is a direct ground contact or carries negative voltage.
The component is short-circuited.
The component is a peak load component (e.g. starter)
If the safety switch was triggered, reset it by pushing the reset button.
