3. Setting the drill stop
Take a new stay bolt and determine the length (drilling
depth X) of th stay bolt sheared in the component.
Positioning the drilling stop on the twist drill.
The dimension (Y) results from the thickness of the drilling
jig (1) + thickness of the guide bushing (2, 3 or 4) + drilling
depth (X).
Make sure that after setting the dimension (Y), both
hexagon socket screws at the drill stop are tightened
using the 4 mm internal hexagon key (19).
4. Using the 4 mm pilot drill bit
IMPORTANT: when drilling out, make sure that you always start with
the 4 mm HSS drill bit (12), the drilling stop (5) and the guide bushing
(2).
Set the drill stop (5) as described in chapter "3. Setting the drill
stop".
Insert the guide bushing (2) into the drilling jig (1).
Using the 4 mm drill bit, drill deep enough until the drill stop rests
against the guide bushing.
Remove the drill bit and guide bushing.
5. Drilling out
The drill bit for the last work process is used in the same manner as the 4 mm drill bit, only the selection of
the tool parts depends on the thread (see chapter 5a and 5b).
5a. Drilling out an M8 stay bolt; you need the following tools:
6.5 mm HSS drill bit (14), drill stop for 6.5 mm drill bit (6), guide bushing for 6.5 mm drill bit (3)
Set the drill stop (6) in the same manner as described in chapter "3.
Setting the drill stop".
Insert the guide bushing (3) into the drilling jig (1).
Using the 6.5 mm drill bit (14), drill deep enough until the drill stop (6)
rests against the guide bushing (3).
5b. Drilling out an M10 stay bolt; you need the following tools:
8.5 mm HSS drill bit (13), drill stop for 8.5 mm drill bit (7), guide bushing for 8.5 mm drill bit (4)
Set the drill stop (7) in the same manner as described in chapter "3.
Setting the drill stop".
Insert the guide bushing (4) into the drilling jig (1).
Using the 8.5 mm drill bit (13), drill deep enough until the drill stop (7)
rests against the guide bushing (4).
